TrinChick Posted June 29, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 29, 2006 Hi, we usually use the cruiseline's air, but this time it is much less expensive to book it separately ($200 pp savings for 8 people). However, we are travelling with someone who has been ill recently, and we would like some coverage if we need to cancel later due to illness. If we purchase travel insurance (not through the cruise line), will cancellation be covered? We would choose non-refundable air. Thanks in advance. greatam Posted June 29, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 29, 2006 You will need to add the cost of air (and any other non refundables) to the total package cost. However, you have "pre exisiting" conditions. You will need to THOROUGHLY read the fine print on any policy you are considering to make sure you have coverage for a previous illness. Most policies will cover pre existing condition, but only if purchased within 10-21 days of initial deposit. Again, read the fine print to make sure you have coverage. Rare LHT28 Posted June 29, 2006 #3 Share Posted June 29, 2006 Usually the pre exsisting condition has to be stable 90 days prior to departure to be covered. There are some policies that you can cancel for any reason. As others have said "read the fine print"
TrinChick Posted June 29, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted June 29, 2006 Many thanks! I will definitely be sure to read the fine print for pre-existing conditions.
