Need help with cabin 1692 on the AOS!

Recommended Posts

I need help!

If someone has stayed in D1 cabin 1692 and has pics, I would really love to see them!

Just booked this aft cabin for a B2B on the AOS and I don't know much about it, except that it is aft! Is this aft D1 bigger than regular D1's?

Any help is appreciated! Thanks! :)

Oops! Merion_Mom...FYI 1692 = 1392 which are both D1's but 1694 and 1394 are Junior Suites so they do not = 1692/1392

ckrobyn, 1692's cabin is a little bit longer in size than a side D1. I would say it is about 4 feet longer. The balcony, as you know, is MUCH larger. 1692's balcony is not as large as 1690's balcony though. But it is still very large. I do have a photo of the balcony of 1392 which is the mirror image of 1692 in my gallery...

Also, here is a picture of 1390's cabin which is mirror image but identical in size to 1692...

I know you are use to a larger cabin, but this D1 is really pretty roomy. Our friends sailed in 1690 (same size as 1692) with 2 kids and made out just fine.

Bonnie,

Thanks so much! When we decided to do this B2B, I really wanted to stay in the same cabin for both weeks ( we had 1694 booked, but it was only available the 2nd week) and.....we wanted to save a few $$ since we would be on the ship for 14 nights! We ended up saving almost $600 by booking the D1 for both weeks.

You are the aft expert! If you say that 3 of us will be fine in 1692 - then I'm gonna go with that!

I have been supremely spoiled by sailing only in suites - yes, I am used to a bigger cabin....BUT for 14 glorious nights at sea......I'd sleep just about anywhere to make it happen!

I appreciate your help - your pictures are great!

Carol,

I managed to get the same cabin for both weeks - 1692. I decided to give up the JS for one week and save some $$$ while still being able to stay in the same cabin. I just didn't want to have to pack and unpack......and.....the money saved on the cabin will buy MANY drinks over a 2 week cruise!

Bonnie,

Thanks for sharing your pictures. When was the last time you cruised on the Explorer? I've read some negative things about the ship. How is the condition? I'm holding cabin 1692. How is it? Can you recommend any other side or aft cabins that you stayed in? Thanks,Mary

mjh, I just got off Explorer a few days ago! She is still a beauty! Clean as a whistle! Don't know what anyone could possibly complain about! :D My favorite aft cabin is 1688 (or 1388). I don't have a favorite side cabin, although I have sailed in a side cabin, I find them...ordinary...(but I don't mean that in a snobby way, just that they don't compare to an aft cabin). My first hump cabin is coming up in 2008 so I can't comment on 9612. I've never had a BAD cabin though! Nor a BAD cruise! :D
