We are going on our first cruise at the end of Sept aboard the Fantasy and I haven't found the answers to a few questions I had yet...so I thought I'd ask. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!

1. Will the 4a guarentee rooms have refridgerators?

2. Is the water the ship provides for free in a cup with ice or in a bottle? Is it decent?

3. How long does the captains cocktail party usually last? Is it on the first day?

4. Should we both buy a soda card or should we try to use just one?

5. Does the ship provide food and beverages at Half Moon Cay - one of our ports?

6. Does the ship have the new comfort beds?

7. Does the ship have DVD players?

8. I just filled out our online fun pass - is this the same thing as the online boarding pass?

THANK YOU ALL SO SO SO MUCH!!!!!

1) On the Fantasy class ships, only the Cat 11 and Cat 12 cabins have refrigerators.

2) I have a tendency to buy bottled water, so I don't know this one.

3) Captains Cocktail party will be 45 minutes to an hour and will occur on formal night, which is generally the second night of the cruise.

4) Never gotten a soda card, so don't know.

5) When I sailed the Fantasy, it went to Freeport instead of Half Moon Cay, so, again, can't be much help.

6) I beleive it did when I was on it, but I had a Cat 11 on the Fantasy.

7) No, it doesn't have DVD players in the cabins.

8) The FunPass is the beginning of your check-in process. Similar to an online boarding pass for airline, but not quite. Having it completed will greatly reduce the amount of time it takes you to get checked in at the Port (unless the computers are down, which happened to me when I sailed the Pride).

Sorry couldn't help on all of it, but it's been a little bit since I sailed the Fantasy. She's a very nice ship, and I remember that trip very fondly.

1. Will the 4a guarentee rooms have refridgerators? No, but if you bring a cooler, your steward will keep it filled with ice for you.

2. Is the water the ship provides for free in a cup with ice or in a bottle? Is it decent? In a cup with ice...I didn't have any problems with it - but I usually only drank it with my dinner. The lemonade is really good!

3. How long does the captains cocktail party usually last? Is it on the first day? Are you going on a 4 night cruise or 5 night? If on a five night, the Captain's Reception is on the 2nd night (first full day). It lasts about an hour (starts at 7:00 for the late seating if I remember correctly)

4. Should we both buy a soda card or should we try to use just one? We wound up not buying a soda card...if you have a soda card they give you a small plastic cup with ice and your coke, they will not give you the whole can, and you can only get one at a time. If you get a coke and you don't have a soda card, they give you a glass filled with ice and the can of coke.

5. Does the ship provide food and beverages at Half Moon Cay - one of our ports? Yes to both. It's a buffet style lunch -hamburgers, hot dogs and jerk chicken (which is wonderful), various salads, fruits and desserts. They provide water and unsweetened tea for free. You can also purchase sodas and (I think) juices and they have a couple of bars on the island. Also the wait staff carries alcoholic beverages around on the beach for you to buy.

6. Does the ship have the new comfort beds? Yes, and they are great!!!! I have never as good away from my home as I did on these beds...I actually think I might have slept better.:p

7. Does the ship have DVD players? No.:(

8. I just filled out our online fun pass - is this the same thing as the online boarding pass? Yes it is. Since you've filled out the fun pass, you're in there computers. It makes checking in a lot simpler.

Hope this helps some! If you have any more questions, I'll do my best answering them.

Oh...and here's a picture of Half Moon Cay. It is an absolutely beautiful island!!!

Let me see if I can help you on some of theses questions. I will also be sailing on the Fantasy September 25th. This is what I have found out so far:

1. No refrigerators on the Fantasy class as far as I can remember unless they were added with the refurbishment.

2. Water is fine on the ship and plentiful. You are welcome to buy bottled water on board but we drank it in a glass and it was fine. It's filtered!

3. Captains cocktail party is on formal night which should be the first sea day on our cruise (Tuesday for us.) It last about an hour and there are free cocktails (champagne, whiskey sours, rum punch, etc.) and finger food. It's nice to go to and if you like ballroom type dancing, you can also enjoy that at the party.

4. Soda cards are good if all you drink are sodas. I always take a 12pk of Diet Pepsi on board and keep it iced in my cabin. I am not being cheap, just prefer Pepsi. Cokes run about $2.50 for a 20oz bottle plus tip. It's a personal choice in this matter.

5. I have been to HMC on HAL and there is a pavillion where a buffet was set up. They had a BBQ buffet for us and it was great! Heard CCL is doing the same thing!

6. The ship has been refurbished with Comfort Beds. Look at the pictures on CCL website and you will see them in the still pictures. The virtual tour still shows the old rooms.

7. The only rooms with DVD players are the suites. You will have first run movies available in your cabin and can also purchase additional movies (pay per view type) on your TV.

8. Fun Pass is the online boarding pass. You should print the Fun Pass when your documents arrive and put a copy with them. Having the fun pass completed makes check in alot easier for all concerned!

Let me know which cruise you are on in September. We may be ship mates!

Wow! Thanks for your help! Your answers were very helpful as was the picture. We are leaving on Sept 30th...right after you end your cruise. Go figure!

I too am a pepsi drinker and will bring some of my own soda as well. Greta tip! I hear that the room attendent will keep the soda on ice for you. Here is a dumb question...what do you keep your soda in when its being iced? Maybe be a collapesable cooler? I wonder if I will have to drain the water out when the ice melts? Silly question I know:)

One more question...at Half Moon Cay can we use our ship and sail card for drinks and sodas? I love the idea of a beach waitress to bring us drinks!

Thanks again for taking the time to help me out!

I have never liked water with my food and I drank it most every meal on the Fantasy, and I thought it tasted great! I am very picky about water too. I'm used to bottled water. And the beds were very very comfortable on our Fantasy cruise. Have a great cruise!:D

Hi:

My family will be on the 30th cruise, this is our second cruise on Carnival but I was wondering about the soda card on the Island as well. My husband is from Upstate New York and still has family there. Not sure if that is close to you. There is a roll call started for this cruise but only about 3 of us there so far.

Welcome aboard.

Yup we live in central NY too! Just outside of Syracuse. I will check out the roll call. The last time I checked there was no one there. Thanks for letting me know!

You were the one I wanted to thank for posting the picture...man I can't wait to go. You brought up a very good point about the soda card!!! Since my husband is a soda drinker and would be very annoyed at a little cup of soda I think we will definitely pass on a soda card for him. I am still up in the air. I guess I will have to see how easy it will be to get a cooler on the ship and bring my own 12 pk of Pepsi. I don't drink that much soda and wonder if my husband gets a can with the glass of ice maybe we could share ...that is if the can is actually cold. Decisions!!! Thanks again!

How do you rent pay per view movies on the ship? I just got off the Fantasy 2 weeks ago. Never saw an option to rent any movies. No Funvision on the Fantasy or whatever they call it.

we watched 8 Below or should I say most of it. They always cut the last 15 minutes of the movie off and started it over again. Never did see the end.:(

We just came back from the Fantasy on the 6/24 cruise. Had a wonderful time. Second time on the Fantasy. We were amazed at what they had done during the refurb. The ship looked great. We had wonderful service from our wait staff in the dining room and our room stewards. They were so outgoing, professional and friendly! Victoria taught my 5 year old daughter how to fold the napkins into a flower, cut her meat every night, and had her glass of milk waiting at the table for her. They knew us by name and addressed each one of us by name. Can't say enough about them and how well we were treated.

Soda Card - both my brother and son got one. Since they bought the adult card, they served them the larger glass of soda. And both were able to order drinks for others in our group. The server in the Celebration dining room served us 3 large soda's each night with one request. For us, it was definitely worth the money. Basically, just had to flash the card. Most didn't ask to see the back side of the card. This worked in the casino as well while we were all playing black jack together.

Half Moon Cay - ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!! The food is great. Grilled right on the island for you at no charge. Water and unsweet tea provided at no charge - just walk by the sodas. Can use your sign and sail for all other drinks and rentals on the island. The tenders hold about 250 people per trip. Would rent the cabana next time instead of the clamshell.

Beds - the new comfort beds are wonderful. Slept well every night.

Water was great in the dining rooms. No problems with it at all.

The one thing we all came away from this cruise - 5 days just isn't enough!!

Have a wonderful time!

Linda
