St Petersburg

Recommended Posts

We are taking HAL on the August 21 cruise to Baltic/St. Petersburg. We are planning on taking two all-day tours (one city highlights, lunch at The Grand Hotel; one St Catherine's and the Hermitage.) We had originally planned on doing the evening at yusupov Palace but read a couple of old posts that it was not worth the $$. Would like any info on this or the Folkloric Spectacular or just skip them both.

:)

St Petersberg - we have been there a couple of times.

The tours you have chosen are great. You could spend all day at the Hermitage and never see it all.

We toured the Winter Palace at Pietrograd before and after it was renovated. Room after room of golden columns, furniture, and classical fixtures will take your breath away. The golden fountain in its main garden is highlighted in all the pictures of the Winter Palace. We also visited Puskin's Residence in the suburbs of the city. It was worth the price of admission. To see the churches and palaces first hand is a memory that you will never forget. To tour the city and see the memorials to the people of the city and its suffering during the 900 day siege of Leningrad during WW 2 is equally impressive.
