I was outside talking to my neighbor when her girlfriend called from the Crown Princess. She said everything fell everywhere. The shops are a mess. Tv's fell in the cabins. It seemed the shipped tipped over quite far. The water came out of the pools and went down all the staircases. There are many injured. She wanted her friend to know she and her husband were alright but very frightened. They were told it was a steering problem. They will soon be back in Cape Canivaral. Very scary situation. Pat

UPDATED: 5:15 pm EDT July 18, 2006

PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. -- A cruise ship listed heavily while at sea on its way to New York Tuesday, injuring some of the passengers aboard, Coast Guard officials said Tuesday.

The Crown Princess, owned by Princess Cruises, had just departed from Port Canaveral when it experienced problems with its steering equipment, Coast Guard spokesman Petty Officer James Judge said.

Judge said the ship listed to the portside of the vessel.

Judge did not know the number of people injured or the extent of their injuries.

The cruise ship was on its way back to the port and will be met by Coast Guard officials and medical personnel, he said.

A spokeswoman for Princess Cruises declined immediately to comment.
