Hey you all, why don't you give us "non-veterans" of this class ship the rundown on some of the amenities that you think Valor will have. Sure would love to hear about 'em - Haven't sailed on Carnival since Ecstacy in 1999. We've got the Carribean Princess for 11/27, then the Valor with the Valor Vampires (trying to figure out a costume already)!

C'mon guys - give us something to dream about!

New 110,000-ton Carnival Valor To Operate Special Two-day Bahamas Cruise From Miami Dec. 15-17, 2004

May 20, 04 | 4:45 pm

Carnival Cruise Lines will offer a special two-day Bahamas cruise from Miami aboard the new 110,000-ton Carnival Valor Dec. 15-17, 2004. Rates for this voyage start at $219 per person, including gratuities, based on double occupancy. Following the two-day introductory voyage, which includes a day-long visit to Nassau, Carnival Valor will launch seven-day Caribbean service from Miami Dec. 19, becoming the largest “Fun Ship” ever based year-round at that port.

“Carnival Valor will be the ultimate ‘floating resort’ offering the facilities and features desired by today’s consumers. This two-day ‘mini-cruise’ is a terrific winter getaway, providing a convenient and affordable way for consumers to experience all this spectacular ‘Fun Ship’ has to offer,” said Bob Dickinson, Carnival president and CEO.

Carnival Valor’s inaugural two-day cruise will depart Miami on Wednesday, Dec. 15, spend Thursday, Dec. 16, in Nassau, and return to Miami on Friday, Dec. 17. During the stay in Nassau, guests can relax at the beach, partake in various watersports, or play a round of championship golf. Myriad dining and shopping opportunities are also available.

Currently undergoing final interior outfitting at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, Carnival Valor encompasses 12 passenger decks and houses 22 lounges, bars and nightspots, including a sports bar, wine bar, piano bar and a multi-level theater showcasing lavish Vegas-style revues.

Dining options include a pair of two-level main dining rooms, a sushi bar, a patisserie, a 1,200-seat casual poolside restaurant, and an upscale reservations-only supper club.

Expansive children’s facilities, including indoor and outdoor play areas and a teen dance club, along with four swimming pools, and a 214-foot-long water slide will also be featured.

Carnival Valor will also house a 14,500-square-foot health club, a full gambling casino, a duty-free shopping mall, and a comprehensive golf program offering professional instruction aboard ship and during golf excursions.

Sixty percent of Carnival Valor’s 1,487 staterooms will offer an ocean view while 60 percent of those will feature private balconies.

Prices for the two-day cruise begin at $219 per person, including gratuities, based on double occupancy. Special rates for third and fourth guests sailing in the same stateroom are also available.

I'm trying to decide between RCCL's Explorer of the Seas, or the new Carnival Valor for a cruise end of January 05. (Sounds like I'd be the first on this board to see it). Sailing on a new and unknown ship is just a little daunting. How long does a crew take to figure out what they are doing?

Just ignore the rude post, not worth our time.

We will be on the Valor April 3rd and also can't wait. We have taken 13 cruises since '94 but this is our first Carnival cruise.

We are headed for the Southern Caribbean on the Serenade in about 5 weeks.

My BF and I are sailing on the Valor 1/30/05. Can't wait! Nothing makes the cold Wisconsin winter go by faster than planning for a cruise! We've never been on such a new ship, our first (and only) cruise was on Sensation so this will be a whole new experience!

Any tips on hotels in SOBE or ideas for excursions in St. Martin/St. Maarten and the Bahamas would be welcome. We prefer to book excursions on our own if possible.

No doubt everyone on this forum loves to be on one of these beautiful vessels...There is never anything more exciting when you arrive at the port and are heading to board the ship.. You look up and are always in awe at the size and scope of the ship..

It can give you chills.. especially your first time..

My family will be on the Valor June 5th also. Can't wait to see the ship. :D

On a more serious note. I live in Pensacola. My family is alive and well. Even though we had some house damage and have to replace my roof, I feel blessed. Others were not as fortunate. Some lost everything. Some lost friends and family. PLEASE keep them in your thoughts and prayers. (Don't forget the survivors of the other hurricanes either)

Thanks!

Gary

We"ll be sharing the Valor with Donna on the 3rd of Apr and am really looking forward to this new ship. We now have 10 in our group and plan to party hearty. Anybody else onboard that date be sure to stop by our Upper Deck Fantail staterooms and say howdy. Cruisers from the East Gulf area hope you are all well and our prayers are with you. Fair winds and following seas. John
