Conquest Balcony

I tried to post this thread on the appropriate board, but no one has responded yet and we are ready to book a.s.a.p. :D

 

This is our (DH, DS, and myself) first balcony, so I need to ask which cabin on deck 6 would be the best. I know a lot of people love the aft balconies but DH wants something midship (sea sickness and he is afraid of engine noise). I would also like a cabin somewhat close to the elevators. I guess my real question would be which side of the ship would be the best or does it really matter? (for port viewing, etc.) For me personally, I don't think I will care where it is located at. We are all really excited about our first balcony!!:D Beans and weenies here we come for the next year:eek: !!! Just teasing!!! Just would like some people's input. Thank you so much for your help.

We had a cat 11 on the Empress deck (Port side) 7330. It was mid ship right near the steps and elevator. It was PERFECT! Not much noise and close to everything. My guess would be 6330 or there about on deck 6 would be great. Also 6331 or so on starboard side would be good too.

 

You get a great view of the islands on the port side. Take bonoculars also--you can see the oil rigs in the gulf the night you leave and return.

 

You will have a blast!! :)

I think you also should look at the floor below you and what's going to be underneath you. If you go too far forward on the ship..you will be directly above the theater and I have read where some people are bugged by the noise.

 

I also don't think you would want to be above the discos either. They go late into the night with the music blaring.

 

In Jamaca, you are tied up to the dock and if you were on the ship...looking toward the front..then the right side is the side that is facing the port.

 

In Grand Cayman and Cozumel you tender in from the ship and you can see the island from either side of the ship so it really doesn't matter.

I had room 6360 on the Conquest. It was directly across the hall from the ice machine and around the corner from the elevators. Perfect room.

Before the Hurricanes did the Conquest dock at GC & Cozumel? Also, if they did are they rebuilding the docks and do they have a completion date?

Hi. DH and I were on the Conquest before the hurricanes, and we did tender into Cozemel and I dont recall about Grand Cayman and did not in Jamaica. Also we had a balcony room on Empress deck 7 towards the back quarter of the ship and it was wonderful, on the port side, so we were facing the pier in Jamaica. We felt virtually no movement and heard no noise . The Conquest was just beautiful ,very plush. We loved it! Have a great time!:D

Before Hurricane Wilma the Conquest docked in Cozumel. All ships tender in Grand Cayman. Not sure how long before the Carnival pier will be up again - heard there were discussions between Mexico and Carnival regarding the rebuilding and it may be awhile. They now tender downtown.

We had an oceanview cabin on the port side of deck 2 on our first cruise. That was the best side to see the ports on that trip, but from what I understand, you never know which way the ship will pull into the ports.

 

When I booked our upcoming Conquest cruise, the person I talked to at Carnival suggested cabin 6388 on the upper deck because it will be behind the casino, but in front of the disco so noise shouldn't be a problem. I booked that one, but later decided to change to the one on the opposite side of the ship (6419) just to try the other side this time. Of course now I'm wondering if I should switch back.

We were in 7365 on the Conquest. No outside noise. Starboard view of departures/arrivals. "Mid Ship" position for minimum rocking. Other passenger cabins above and below. NO complaints here!

We were told that there will never be a pier in Grand Cayman, it will always be tendering in only, due to the fragile underwater reefs.

NOSLEN3333 -- you are absolutely right. I do not need to hear the thump, thump in the middle of the night. Now my DH would not be bothered, but me I am some what of a light sleeper.

 

JUDY--that is exactly the cabin I was looking at. It is between the casino and dance club. I am so glad to hear you say their was hardly any noise there.

 

Melinda--cabin 6360 is the cabin almost underneath 7330, it's about 3 more cabins back. Thanks for the bonocular tip--just bought DH some new ones for his birthday.

 

Maybe before we go next year, Cozumel will have all there piers open.:) Wishful thinking maybe?

Dont base a cabin choice on which side the port it. Depending on how the captain parks-- you could pull in or back in.

if it doesnt cost muchm ore youshould consider the empress deck-- its away from public areas.

 

as for the aft-- there is no engine noise.

Thank you so much for the great advice. I will definitely look in to the cost of moving up a deck. Maybe I will get lucky and some TA will be running an upgrade special. :D If not I know which ever deck or cabin we choose, we will be just excited about being on the cruise and a balcony. If I can't move up the deck then I will try to choose as carefully as I can.

We were in cabin 6300 on the Conquest, it's above the Casino, but we never heard a sound. Great location! Convenient to everything.

Thanks Poptart--sounds great. My DH is going to love just taking the elevators down one deck and be right at the casino. :D Oh, that could be really dangerous too!!:eek:

We are on the Empress Deck room 7444 (aft balcony) for our first cruise. I chose the Empress deck because I had read so much about the noise on deck six and then the chair scraping on deck eight. Being a newbie....I am glad I found cruise critic prior to sailing :D

Me and the wife sailed on the Conquest back in Feb. Cabin 6391, Upper Deck, Starboard side, midship. NO problems at all! Spent a lot of time up on the Lido deck around the pool area. Heading out on the Glory in November; can't wait! :)

As I keep looking at the decks and plans. I think I may go with a cabin on the starboard side of the ship too. The view will be wonderful from either side of the ship.:) Who knows, I may change my mind again, before I book. (I guess that is just the woman in me!!!:D ) Hopefully I will book this week!!

Yes, you should be able to get three chairs out there, plus the little cocktail table. The balcony door swings out, so someone might have to move in order for someone else to go in and out, but maybe not.

PS. We had the first balcony cabin on deck 10 on our Conquest cruise. It was great because I read a tip on CC where someone suggested being able to open the balcony door yourself. We brought our own little tool and since the cabin was the first one that opened to a larger, front deck, we opened the front divider as we wanted when we wanted a "larger" balcony! It was great!

Yes, that's probably the way to do it. Since you have three people in there, you should be able to get a 3rd. We had three people (2 adults and our 5 year old), and we had more than enough chairs (but that might have been because we opened the three balconies together... but I can't remember how many chairs we had actually... there always seemed to be enough though).
