sail7seas Posted July 4, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 4, 2004  How can we "set sail" on an HAL ship? They don't have sails :) Is this a proper expression? Does it only apply to a ship/boat with sails?
Krazy Kruizers Posted July 4, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 4, 2004 :) That's true. And what about those sail away parties? I have never seen sails at them. Maybe the the boutiques should have a "sale away" special everytime the ship leaves a port. :)

localady Posted July 4, 2004 #7 Share Posted July 4, 2004 You know they have our room in the back of the boat and on the right side, it has a nice patio off it. When we sail away I will think of the correct nautical terms like "room service" and "creme brulee please" while I watch the pretty water in that big lake pass by our big boat  I am sorry I am soooo excited to get on the Dam ship couldn't help myself!
Terri Lee Posted July 4, 2004 #8 Share Posted July 4, 2004 If this is really a serious question....................then setting sail is a term used in the days of real sailing ships, back in the days of yore,so to speak, when all ships were moved by the wind in their sails, long before engines were invented. When I think of it,the very first HAL ship was a real sailing ship, complete with full masts etc. However, please correct me if I am wrong.........boy!am I ever leaving myself wide open!! LOL!!:D Terri;)
