car rental at Port Everglades?

After we get off our ship at Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdale, does anyone know if you can have a rental car there waiting for you? Are there rental car booths there at the port? We would like to rent car or have one there ready instead of going back to airport to pick up.

When we rented from Hertz a couple of years ago, a shuttle bus came to take us to their lot near the airport and the Port. I think that we had to call to send out the bus but we didn't wait very long. Don't know if all of the car rental agencies do this. Best bet is to call the local location and ask.:)

There are no car rental booths at the port. Two agencys have offices just outside of the port, Thrifty and Budget. The airport is less then ten minutes from the port and contain all the major car rental agencies in a shared garage facility opposite terminal one. ;)

Can you walk to these rental agencies? I was thinking one from our party could walk to the rental agency while the others stay with the luggage. We need a car for the day we get back from our cruise. Our flight doesn't leave until after 7 PM.

There are no provisions for walking from Port Everglades to FLL. There are no sidewalks, traffic is constant, a lot of tractor trailer activity within this busy port. Why not grab a cab to the airport, pickup a rental car and return to the port to pick up your group. Cabs relatively inexpensive. ;)

That's what I needed to know. Thank you!
