Kamika .... worst ever.

On a cruise several years ago, one of the comedians was so...awkward and insistent......with one of the children who volunteered to participate, that the child finally just started to sob. The comic handled it poorly and I FELT AWFUL for that child. Finally, one of his parents went to the stage and retrieved him, and the audience erupted in applause. Everyone was so relieved when it was over.

Ever since then, I've been very, very uncomfortable with comics/hypnotists, etc. who use audience members to participate. I rarely go to them because I never want to see that happen to anyone -- child or not -- again!

We saw Bert on the Caribbean Princess in December and OH MY GOD he got on my nerves!

We sat through a couple of songs and my husband and I looked at each other and said ummmmm .... we are outta here!

We also saw Steve Moris and he was SO funny. I laughed through the whole show.

I saw them last year and thought they were OK. I loved her Tina Turner impression but the male of the duo played a guitar solo/medley that went on way too long. I'm going on the CP again in September again and agree it would be better if they changed the entertainment more frequently.

I have to disagree. I find RCL's entertainment to be top notch.

Yes RCCL does have great entertainment. We were only on 1 RCCL ship and the entertainment was excellent. Carnival's productions made so much of an impression though. It was like a Las Vegas top notch show. I guess you could make a claim for RCCL being even with Carnival. I do know Princess needs to upgrade their talent and shows. I don't go or not go on cruises because of them, but good shows cap off a great day. Bad ones make you feel a little cheated. Oh well......to each his/her own.

Absoultely hidious! I have been on 4 cruises and Kimika was the worst I have ever seen/heard. We were also on the CB last week and like a previous poster said, people were walking out left and right. I must have counted 50 people while waiting for DH and our friends to come out of the bathroom. They really are that bad.

I have to agree that Princess dropped the ball with entertainment. Troy (the comedian) was absolutly hilarious. My husband is still making "Its time to do laundry" jokes! The other entertainment was lacking. Bert Stratton was a total bore to me and there were so many people at the Pub night, we could not see. Carnival, IMO, has better shows.

I didn't know they were still around. I thought they were quite funny when I saw them on the Grand about 3 years ago. Kind of racey and not everyone's cup of tea for entertainment, but we enjoyed them. Of course, things can change in 3 years and they may not be as good as they were back then......

Bert has a pleasant voice and appearance, but beyond that I thought he was just another lounge singer. I read so much praise of him on CC that maybe I expected too much (praise vs Hype) but it all comes down to what appeals to you. His audience was standing all around the lounge and the hallway, they don't give him much space to work in,but those people were loving it.....

As for Kimika,I got a bit tired to say the least,of her saying how much she was sweating (too much information for me) it was a recurrent theme. They were like an old music hall act.

I think her husband is stuck in the 70's with the Barry Gibb look. He is a talented guitar player but there was not much of that.

The Tina Turner skit/song was good.

Would I go to see them again? NO. Someone should tell her that she is playing to a mainly American audience and some of the colloquialisms she uses are simply not understood.

The best entertainment to me was Steve Morris (adult comedy) which was very original and hilarious. The room was packed and roaring with laughter.

The only thing I can say about James (the kid) Michael is that he is just juvenile- sorta like Beavis and Butthead but not funny.

I was on the CB two summers ago and both Kimika and "The Kid" performed. Kimika as OK - would not pay to see them - but most our group loved the Tina Turner routine. I really disliked "The Kid" and agree with the previous poster that he was embarrassingly juvenile, but my 2 late teen sons loved him!! Hope they get some new entertainment on the CB by the next time I cruise on her.

We cruised on the Sapphire Princess in May (Mexico) and I actually fell asleep during the juggler's act. We did enjoy Lorena B. Fox and her Tina Turner rendition.

Well,on CB last week I fell asleep during the Hypnotist's act,and NO, I wasn't under his influence.....just bored. No one woke me up by saying "At the sound of my voice you will snap out of it".........I finally got up and left.

LOL :)

Troy was the best IMHO. Other then that all the acts are good but not great. And Troy is nice guy to boot. Spoke with him many days at the refreshment stand. We did a b2b. I hope they change their acts for the next time we see them.

in our 19 cruises we have been on 7 lines. we rarely go to shows as we find it campy, not entertaining to downright terrible. we will be in the casino, at a bar with live music, or out on deck till midnite!

Went On The Star Last Year. 4 Great Performances. All I Have Read Is Poor Entertainment Reviews. Wish I Knew Before I Booked For September. Is There Any Good Performances At The Theater. Maybe we should e-mail princess and tell them to read our reviews.

I have seen Bert, and Kamika 2 times last year on Carribean princess..I loved them both each time I saw them. Bert drew in an unbelivable crowd where there was people just walking through that stopepd to watch. The Tina Turner act from Kamika i thought was very funny.

Im looking forward to see the entertainment on Crown Princess!

  • 2 years later...

Ok, it took me awhile, but I finally found this thread.

On our recent 8\6 CB cruise Kimika & Bert Stratton did the same exact act.

You think they would change their routine....

I thought they were 10X better than Bert Stratton! Bert was a bore!

Kamika was OK - I wouldn't pay to see them. Now - THE KID magician was a riot - I don't recall him making any reference to retarded. We saw him twice and would go again. Never heard of the touted Bert Stratton, so I cannot comment. If anyone have not seen a piano player last name Burton you are really missing a good entertainer. He did not perform on the stage but at a piano off of the atrium.

I think that like food, entertainment is subjective. I've been on six cruises on three different line and I've found the entertainment to be about the same on all of them. There are shows that I've loved, some I've liked and others I didn't care for. I find this true not only on cruises, but at many of the land based venues we attend.

What I do find amusing is that when there is a complaint the threads are 30,40, 50 or more comments long, when it's a compliment, maybe 5. This is true on many of the boards. Is it just human nature to vent rather than compliment?

Kimika's comedy/music act was entertaining to me. She is short & sassy and and her hubby is tall with long hair and plays the guitar; both are talented. I guess if you seen it more than one time it, they could get on your nerves.

During the show Kimika selects a young man in the audience and calls him "Big Sausage". I saw this young man in the pool and karaoke and people yelled out his name...Big Sausage. Good thing he had a good sense of humor because he was labeled that for the entire cruise. :D Single men, don't sit in the center of the first 2 rows if you don't want to get picked!

Bert Stratton's show (love him or leave him) draws a large crowd of people, so he must be doing something right! ;)

Sarge was Great! My all time favorite!!!
