patwell Posted July 28, 2006 #27 Share Posted July 28, 2006 I was 12...and just leaving a violin lesson when someone came in the music store and told of hearing it on the radio. I had seen her in NY with my Dad who always took me to see liner row when we were in the city as I had such a fascination with ocean liners. I have never forgotten how beautiful she was. Here is an interesting link to a very poignant story that just ran in the newspaper...the first time in 50 years this survivor has told his story publicly. I don't know how long this will be accessible online but it's quite an account of what must have been incredibly frightening. http://www.silive.com/search/index.ssf?/base/news/1153660674155230.xml&coll=1 There is also an amazing website account of this tragedy, but if you go here be prepared to be drawn into this in a way you won't forget. It's truly unforgetable as you read the accounts of what happened and the amazing rescues. http://www.andreadoria.org Cheers, Penny PS...hi Ruby!!! How are you??:)
