DenRus or RCCL in St. P?

Recommended Posts

We will be on Jewel of the Seas Aug 30 cruise. We will be only taking shore excursions in St. Petersburg because we usually prefer walking and touring at our own pace. Unfortunately being only two, a private guide is too expensive but we are weighing taking the two day DenRus tour vs. two half-day tours and a full day tour(Hermitage in the morning and the train and market experience in the afternoon, the first day and something with Palaces the second day) with RCCL. The time touring is about the same and the price is not all that different but we're wondering which will give us the better experience?

Thanks for any help.

We did the RO tour last summer and SO glad we didn't take the RCCL tours. We saw the buses load up with 40-50 people while we had a group of 4 + our driver & guide. We were able to manuever through the museums easier and could customize our trip as we wanted. When we were done with one area, we would tell our guide and he'd zip us to the next. Can't really do that when you've got a busload of people on the same tour.

We just returned from a Baltic Cruise with trhe Regatta. We used Denrus in St Petersburg and were very satisfied. We saw what we wanted to see and for how long we wanted.Much superior to Ship's tours.
