****Live from the Grand Princess****

T&J

Recommended Posts

We are just about to sailaway from Naples, Italy in approx. 5 minutes. They have not announced any late stragglers which is amazing for a change.

The line up at the Pursers desk is unbelievable. It is wrapped around to the entrance of the Casino. Why people leave to check there accounts at the last minute I don't know and the haggling and shouting at the desk is something to be seen. This is the part about cruising I don't like at all.

The sun is shnnng right now and if you can view us on the cruise cam in approx 10 minutes leaving Naples the view is something to see with the mountains in teh backdrop.

I enjoyed my haircut and facial late this afternoon and tonight we go for the Last Supper!...actually one of my least favorite meals is this menu.

We haven't even begun to pack so will be packing into the wee huors as we are one of the first to disembark at 5:00am and taking our luggage with us and not tagging them tonight.

More to follow later tonight from the Grand Princess.

Forgot to add yesterday for those travelling on the Sept 1st and onward cruises, Princess has decided thus far to continue to go to Kusadasi and also Istanbul unless there is an advisory published by the State Department or something else happens in between sailing times. The Chief Security Officer said the company is monitoring the situation very closely at this time.

Ok we are just pulling out of the harbour of Naples...boats are following us as well and horns are blasting too!

Just incredible sailaway even from my window here in the Library on Deck 5...can see it all. We have a very short distance to Civitavecchia tonight so we will be crawling no doubt. Sometimes we get in even earlier than 4:00am in the past. Sharon, Javier and I are taking the train from Civitavecchia to Rome Airport early in the morning at 5:45am.

More to follow later as I am about to hop into the shower and get ready for dinner in 35 minutes.

Ahem, You're the one who is talking about the Regal and not staying on the topic "Live from the Grand Princess." I was merely responding. Have a nice flight.

Tony:

I posted this on its own thread, but it was suggested that I post this here:

If you are reading this while onboard the Grand Princess and Paul Burton is currently onboard as the Promenade Deck pianist/entertainer, I would very much like to get in touch with him. My wife and I met him several years ago on the Sun Princess and again on the Dawn and became friends but we haven't seen him in years. I know that he has recently been onboard the Grand and I have been unsuccessful in finding his email address. If he is on board please either get his email and post it in this thread, or email me or have him email me at sgurey "at" lucent.com. You can jog his memory by reminding him that my wife has a famous multi-talented first cousin in the entertainment industry whose name I would prefer not to reveal on this board, but he would knowimmediately .

If you see him before you disembark or can get a message to him, it would be appreciated.

Please don't bait the fish, I'd like to leave this thread afloat for a while......

Sorrry bout that Caroline, but neither bdjam or I started the anti Regal comments - I still think it is one of Princess finest ships in all respects and I will be sorry to see it go - IMHO, having recently sailed on it in February it is nowhere near T&J's description.

Tony,

I just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed reading your thread everyday (I have to agree about the book, you are a very entertaining writer) My husband and I will be on the Grand in November and are really looking forward to it. Have a safe trip home (we actually live about 5 hrs west of you) and rest up for your next cruise in Sept. I'm looking forward to reading about your adventure then......I'm not sure what I'll read with my morning coffe until then *LOL.

Safe travels!

Hi Tony --

We want to thank you again for the info you have posted. We do the Med on the Emerald in Sept. 07 and found your posts to be invaluable to our planning.

Suggestion -- how about a "must do" recap? or even a "must do" but "also can do" recap.

Note-- I have said nothing about the Regal or its cookies:)

Thanks again -- Earl and Carolyn

Thanks for the info Tony! I'll be on the Grand for the 25 September cruise that is scheduled to stop in Turkey. Even if they did skip the Turkish ports, I'm sure I would enjoy the substitutes. I'm just anxious to get onboard! :)

I believe I heard that the Grand has Texas Hold'em... Do you know if they had any tournaments during the cruise?

Following your thread has been very enjoyable and informative. Thanks!

Okay this is "live from the Grand Princess"... if ya'll had behaved the thread regarding the Regal would be alive and well.. I don't care if this thread is 25+ pages long .. it WILL go poof if there's any more baiting. hijacking etc. etc. etc.. by the OP or any one else and on any topic!!!..

comprende???? this is NOT about the Regal Princess

:::which BTW is one of my fav ships so it's "nothing personal"...:::

We were in D601 CAT AB Mini-Suite so D321 is a CAT C Mini-Suite and they are the same...nice cabins and new linens and conforters too!
