Thanks for the info Tony! I'll be on the Grand for the 25 September cruise that is scheduled to stop in Turkey. Even if they did skip the Turkish ports, I'm sure I would enjoy the substitutes. I'm just anxious to get onboard! :)

I believe I heard that the Grand has Texas Hold'em... Do you know if they had any tournaments during the cruise?

Following your thread has been very enjoyable and informative. Thanks!

Yes they did have many tournaments and also live by satelite as well.

Enjoy your cruise on the Grand....

Okay this is "live from the Grand Princess"... if ya'll had behaved the thread regarding the Regal would be alive and well.. I don't care if this thread is 25+ pages long .. it WILL go poof if there's any more baiting. hijacking etc. etc. etc.. by the OP or any one else and on any topic!!!..

comprende???? this is NOT about the Regal Princess

:::which BTW is one of my fav ships so it's "nothing personal"...:::

Tony:

I posted this on its own thread, but it was suggested that I post this here:

If you are reading this while onboard the Grand Princess and Paul Burton is currently onboard as the Promenade Deck pianist/entertainer, I would very much like to get in touch with him. My wife and I met him several years ago on the Sun Princess and again on the Dawn and became friends but we haven't seen him in years. I know that he has recently been onboard the Grand and I have been unsuccessful in finding his email address. If he is on board please either get his email and post it in this thread, or email me or have him email me at sgurey "at" lucent.com. You can jog his memory by reminding him that my wife has a famous multi-talented first cousin in the entertainment industry whose name I would prefer not to reveal on this board, but he would knowimmediately .

If you see him before you disembark or can get a message to him, it would be appreciated.

I will leave now a message with the Pursers desk for you although honestly tonight I could not meet up with him as I was playing all night in the Casino....It's 3:00am and I have to run soon...

...in 16 days I'll back Live again!

I don't understand why I have to wait 16 days. I've never been to canada either.. I vote you do a live from home thread.

I know mom host caroline will let ya, because it'll keep you busy and out of regal princess threads. distraction is a time-honoured parenting technique. :)

I probably missed catching you before you leave the ship for the trip home - but I wanted to thank you also for your insight and great information during the cruise. I'm going to go through withdrawls now until I leave for the Golden on 9/19!

I hope you enjoy your time at home before heading out for your next adventure!

Thank you once again for your wonderful descriptions of the Ports of Call and life on board.

We'll maid it HOME!...HOme as in Montreal, Canada....:D

We'll disembarkation was a breeze on teh last day. As some gathered, I did not go to sleep and got out of the office after 2:00am and then we started packing since we were bringing our luggage down with us.

We were teh first pax's cleared off that ship at 5:05am and caught the train at Civitavecchia at 5:47am and got into Funicimino Airport by 7:35am. We arrived at the Air Canada counter and it wasn't opening until 8:40am 4 hours prior. We went upstairs and got a 3.70 euro coffe's each (Ouch!) and waited. We got checked in but as staff we were travelling stand by that day and the flight was pretty full but we thought we would still get on...that didn'ty happen because there was a cancellation from Austrian Airlines that people were connecting and they protected some pax's on our flight thru to Toronto from Rome. The flight was about to clsoe and they told us they didn't have 3 seats but one and would we split up? We said no and then proceeded to get our luggage and standby on Lufthansa to Frankfurt that afternoon at 2:45pm and knew that we would misconnect our last Air Canada flight at 5:00pm to Toronto and would have to overnight Friday night which is what we did. We ended up flying out this morning non-stop to Montreal and arrived at 1:00pm today and finally home a day later. Those wondering Sharon works for Air Canada and so did my father for 25 years as well.

Good to be home and tomorrow we pick up the dogs in Toronto....another 10 hour drive roundtrip...WOW.

Impressions of the Grand were great service, friendly and helpfull staff and crew. The ship is overall very well maintained, however she is showing her age a bit now and will be interested in getting feedback after her drydock in October.
