Christmas/New Year On Princess Ships

As a family, we have been on two Caribbean Christmas/NewYears on P & O ships. They have all the Christmas/New Year traditions e.g Father Christmas (Santa Claus) arrives for the children etc., carol singing and mince pies, to name but a few. We are looking at doing a Princess cruise Xmas 2007. Can anyone tell me if these ships also have tradtional activities during the festive season as I notice some ships are in port Christmas Day and New Years day whereas P & O is always at sea?

Many Thanks

We sailed on the Pacific Princess Christmas cruise and they had Carols by Candlelight on Christmas Eve, Church services on Christmas Day and Santa came to visit the kids with present on Christmas Day. We had traditional Christmas dinner and the ship was decorated beautifully. Santa even left presents in the cabins for the adults. Christmas carols were played non-stop for days and days before, during and after, which became it bit much in the end. But all in all it was very festive and Princess does Christmas on all ships from what I have read on these boards. I'm sure you'll feel very festive.::D

Our family will be sailing to the Mexican Riviera on the Dawn Princess Christmas/New Years cruise this coming December. The standard dress code information states that there will be two formal nights on an 11 day cruise. Will Princess add any extra formal nights, or will people tend to dress up a little more since it's holiday time? We cruised with Celebrity last Christmas and most people dressed up every night.

We did the Mexican Riviera on the Sapphire Princess this past Christmas and felt that people dressed nicer than they did on our Caribbean cruises. You'll have two formal nights and it's unlikely there will be more. After having done a Caribbean cruise over the holidays for several years, we found the Mexican Riviera holiday cruise much more relaxed and festive, with many family groups getting together in the lounges to exchange presents. We'll never do a Caribbean cruise over Christmas again.
