AndreaRH Posted August 12, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 12, 2006 Hi Everyone, My husband and I will be sailing the Mariner on September 20th from Whittier, Alaska to Tokyo, Japan via Russia. This is our first Regent cruise and our first visit to all of the ports of call on this itinerary! Very exciting! Any suggestions for what to pack? It's a 13-night cruise with 3 formal nights. How formal should my dresses be? Chic cocktail style or full-length gowns? How dressed up do guests get on Country Club Casual and Informal nights? Should my husband still wear a suit jacket on an informal nights or would that be out of place? As for shore excursions, I know we need to dress in layers but how about on the boat during this time of year? How much "outdoor" activity is there? All advice is appreciated! Andrea PS - Anyone else out there booked on this cruise?
dougburns Posted August 12, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 12, 2006 The weather across the north pacific can be very variable at that time of year, so it's a crapshoot. As far as dress goes, formal for ladies varies from long gowns to fancy beaded tops and pants. Lynn always wears full length gowns. For the men a tux or dark suit is the norm. Informal for the men is a jacket with or without a tie and for ladies it's just a step down from formal. CC casual for men is a nice sport shirt and trousers. I usually wear a jacket, but it's certainly not required. For the ladies it's just a nice dress or top and pants.
threedognight Posted August 12, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 12, 2006 AndreaRH - My partner and I are sailing on the Whittier to Tokyo cruise and continuing on the Mariner to Hong Kong. The weather looks like it may be about 55 in Whittier and low 70s in Japan. My strategy is layers, layers, layers. :p
