Alaska Boo Posted August 18, 2006 #26 Share Posted August 18, 2006 We were offered champagne and walked to our room on Summit last October. Vanessa
Rare Lois R Posted August 18, 2006 #27 Share Posted August 18, 2006 Zenith in June- 2 of our party of 7 handed champagne-- we were told to drink it right there-- which is hard when there are people boarding behind you. No one lead us to room. Zenith was a lousy ship-- went with an open mind but it seemed to be missing just about every perk experienced on other ships. Don't waste your time & money-- Zenith is NOT the celebrity treatment. Sorry you had such a lousy time:( (your words). I respectfully disagree though.....I think she is a fantastic ship. I felt like my money and time were well spent.....I sailed her in Feb and went back in April....both times I did receive the Celebrity Treatment. Cosmic Rays Posted August 18, 2006 #28 Share Posted August 18, 2006 Just off Century and we were escorted to our room as we always have been on Celebrity. Sailings were on Mercury, Infinity, Zenith and Horizon. Not sure why the difference unless it's early arrivals. How was the trip and did you have a great time with great service etc? We're due to sail on her early in October in the Western Med. and seem to read so little about her. Colin
CruiseQueen13 Posted August 18, 2006 #29 Share Posted August 18, 2006 We ALWAYS board early - quick, no lines, right in - worth it to me to find my own cabin. Think we board too early to be escorted to the cabin.
jaybird from SC Posted August 18, 2006 #30 Share Posted August 18, 2006 Hi everyone,I just returned from the Aug 4th sailing of the Galaxy. Although I have taken other cruises in the past two years, I haven't been on a Celebrity ship since June 04. This was my 8th Celebrity cruise. My husband and I noticed that the "perks" or little extras that Celebrity does to keep us coming back have diminished a bit. This leads me to my question-- we have ALWAYS been shown to our stateroom when we board the ship. This time we were met with champagne (nice touch but unfortunately it happened to be in a dirty glass) and then we were left to find our room on our own. No problem in finding our room, I just was expecting that "nice touch". Our tablemates at dinner said they were both led to their rooms and that they thought it just depended on when you boarded the ship. Soooo, can you all tell me has this perk fallen by the wayside, or have most of you been led to your rooms? You may think I'm being petty, but there are other things I noticed as well on this cruise (and we are NOT complainers--we give excellents 9 times out of 10 on the majority of our cruise evaluations)-- but I won't go into the other things at this point. That was a long-winded way of asking if you were led to your rooms. I'm just curious. Overall, we enjoyed our cruise, just noticed things have changed a bit... Thanks for your time, Jill I believe it depends on the time of your arrival to the ship..If you arrive before the "suggested" boarding time then the staff isn't ready to welcome you aboard with a personal escort to your cabin. At least this is what we have found to be true on our last few cruises. Happy Sailing.....
VPGPH Posted August 18, 2006 #31 Share Posted August 18, 2006 I have been on Celebrity twice, and on HAL once. In both cruise lines I was shown to my room. Both cruises on X were on the Connie, and on both we were offered champagne and were shown to our rooms. As far as time is concerned, at our first cruise we arrived early (I believe it was about 11-noon) the second time around it was after 2pm. We are sailing again on Nov 20th and this time we are arriving before noon. I will let people know after that trip if it has to do with the arrival time. I hope that they are not cutting conrners... It is such an nice touch to be shown to your room!!!!
jcbbjb Posted August 19, 2006 Author #32 Share Posted August 19, 2006 After reading all the posts, I have decided there is no rhyme or reason on who gets led to their rooms. On all my previous 7 Celebrity cruises I have been led to my room. At times we were early and some times we arrived later. That's why I posted the question. I really thought that it was standard operating procedure for EVERYONE to be led to their rooms. But from all your answers, I guess that is not the case. We just got lucky with our past cruises. And as I've also mentioned, it's no big deal-- I can find my own way to my cabin ( as I've done on all the other lines I've sailed) but I had come to expect it as the "Celebrity treatment." Thanks again for everybody who has responded. It's been very interesting reading about everyone's experiences! Jill
CaliforniaDreamin Posted August 19, 2006 #33 Share Posted August 19, 2006 I believe the real answer lies in numbers and my guess is 200,000 per year. About half the passengers (1000) on each ship times about 25 cruises per year per ship, times 8 ships (not counting Xpedition). Now this is a very rough estimate, done late at night when I ran out of time and energy and was getting bored (pun) with the boards. Oh, and we sometimes are escorted, but usually not. We get on early and are usually told to go for lunch and they will announce when the cabins are ready. We seldom hear any such announcement, though they may make it. We eat lunch and chat with other passengers and then head for the cabin.
CStorm Posted August 19, 2006 #34 Share Posted August 19, 2006 We were lead to our room after being offered our sparkling wine on our July 30 sailing on Infinity. We arrived about 2pm and our cabin was ready.
the2006Junket Posted August 19, 2006 #35 Share Posted August 19, 2006 Literally just back from 12 night Medit. on Millie. We were escorted upon arrival at around 3 pm (new to the ship, so needed the help!) and enjoyed the champ.:) Every port, we were offered the cold cloths, except if we returned to the ship much earlier than others. Lovely ship and excellent service all around. Lynne from Boston
