explorer balcony side aft

Recommended Posts

Ok, new to the explorer, we booked late and in 9672-D2 Aft balcony.

Tell me it isnt a bad cabin. Didnt really have a choice, not much left.

How about D1 (6662) that is available but hear Deck 6 has alot metal in front of the balcony?. Whats the difference of D1 and 2.

Any comments would be helpful.

Tried for an upgrade but didnt work. Hahahaha

thanks

June

PeanutJMV:

The balcony cabin on Deck 9 would be much better than the one on Deck 6. We stayed in 6669 last year on Voyager and our cabin flooded due to the galley below us. Due to this I will make sure that there are cabins above/below us for now on.

Also 6662 is a connecting cabin and you might hear noise from the cabin adjacent to you.

Deck 9 is much better!

Happy Cruising!:)

I agree with those who said to stay with 9672. You DO understand that this is NOT an aft cabin, right? Regular size cabin (188 sq.ft.), regular size balcony (small :))

D1 and D2 are only different as to occupancy. A D1 may have a 3rd berth. D2 is only for 2 passengers. The cabin & balcony size are the same, if location is the same.

As for flooding, it can happen from other passenger cabins, too. Being above a galley does not make a cabin prone to damage.

Have a fantastic cruise. You will LOVE the Explorer!

12 cabins flooded due to the galley sink/disposal system backing up. The snaking started at 3am near us and continued for a few hours. By 6am our bathroom floor had dirty water and misc. gunk all over it. By that time no one knew where the problem started. Our cabin attendant knocked on our door explaining what was going on and to see if we were ok. We told him about the bathroom floor and someone was in there right away vacuuming it up but it didn't help. Staff were all over the hallway working as fast as they can to find the problem. Other staff members and our cabin attendent were talking to other passengers as well as moving them out due to the water/gunk spilling onto the carpets in their cabins. We had to move as well since the situation was getting worse in our cabin.

After several hours we went down to find out what happened. The cabins were all torn apart, carpets removed, major cleaning being done, etc. Our cabin attendant had all of those cabins and we felt so bad for him. They finally figured out where the problem came from in the galley and it was repaired.
