Paris on you own?

A lot depends on if you need to make it to the ship for a cruise or if this is a post cruise amount of time. Traffic in Paris can be awful and if you need to make it to the ship or if you are catching a flight out of DeGaulle, you'll need to plan a lot of time getting there. But, if you've already figured your travel time into the five hours, I would visit the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and a walk down the Champs-Elysees. Forget doing any museums as the lines are hours long. You might want to substitute a quick look at Versaille Palace, but again, that could take up all your time.

Yes do exactly as Kitty9 says.........only adjustment may be to take the water taxi down the Seine from the Eiffel tower to Notre Dame, very relaxing and you see the gorgeous bridges along the way. Make sure you take the time to stop at any Patisserie and buy ANYTHING as it will be the best pastry you ever ate!!

If you are talking about the excursion from the ship, we did this last September. You don't have a lot of time, but we were dropped off at the E. Tower and we walked from the ARch de Triump, down the Champs De Elyssee, past the Louve and Notre Dame and then back up the other side of the river. Next time we will take the water taxi, not as much walking. I would take this tour again. We did have enough time at the end to have some wine and cheese at a corner bistro before meeting back up with our bus. As long as you are back near the bus, you can just eat and drink until.......

this is wonderful advice for you...the ships bus will drop you off at the tower...then you are on your own for about 5 hours...

we wont be going this time, will go to Honfleur this time, but this wonderful advice certainly makes me want to see Paris again...

If you plan to visit the Eiffel Tower, keep in mind that the tower has three levels. The elevators that you get at the base of the tower go to levels one and two. If you want to go all the way to the top (third level) you need to use a different set of elevators that runs between level two and level three. This means waiting in two different lines, one line for the elevator to level two and then another line for the elevator for level three. This can be very time consuming unless you are there early in the morning when the tower first opens. If you have a very limited amount of time you may wish to skip the third level and just take the elevator from the base to level two.
