knitting cruise in January 2007

Recommended Posts

Have you tried checking the roll call board for your sailing? I'd help with a link, but you didn't provide your sail date. It might be one of these:

There are some of us who enjoy knitting and find it relaxing.

There was absolutely no malice in my remark. The great thing about cruising is that each of us gets to enjoy the experience in a different way. I sincerely hope that you have a fantastic time:)

PS I could do with a new sleeveless pullover for my golf!

I read the title of the thread and thought,

"WOW! You can knit a cruise?!?!?!? Now *there's* an incentive to finally learn how to knit!!!!!!!!!!

:D :D :D

LOL Merion Mom......you've killed two birds with one stone...the third Freedom Class ship will be the Cardigan of the Seas!

I just sent my knitting buddies an email with the details about the 2 cruises, I'll paste it here so that you can see it. I'm not sure if CC will edit out the websites, but if they do, it will at least give you a google starting point:

The one I learned of first is "Sea Socks Cruise and Yarn Expedition"

Here is one of their websites:

http://www.mycruiseplanner.net/?page=fp&id=11028

There is also a blog with updates:

http://www.seasocks.blogspot.com/

And a Royal Caribbean site with more details: http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/cruiseDetails/itineraryAndPricing.do;jsessionid=0000qvvdNihhdB7zOBZj5h34KYR:10ktmf1jr?packageCode=VI05LAV1&sailDate=1070429

You are invited to join us for a Knitting Adventure on the High Seas.

When: April 29th, 2007

Where: Royal Caribbean's Vision of the Seas

From: LA to Vancouver for FIVE nights

What: In addition to your cruise, meals, and entertainment, you will receive an Exclusive Knitting Bag filled with knitting essentials, and exclusive yarn from Mama E of C*EYE*BER Fibers. There will be knitting workshops and knitting sessions all over. Let's fill the ship with knitters!

The itinerary:

29-Apr Los Angeles, California

30-Apr Cruising

01-May San Francisco, California

02-May Cruising

03-May Victoria, British Columbia

04-May Vancouver, British Columbia

Prices starting at: $475 pp*

Pricing is per person, double occupancy and subject to availability.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, for the other one, I haven't found much info. Here is what I have found:

Great Balls of Yarn (which I think might be a knitting shop?)

Jan. 20-28, 2007

Royal Caribbean's Voyager of the Seas

Miami, St. Thomas, San Juan, Labadee Hispanola and Nassau Bahamas

$1399 per person, double occupancy

Info in a pdf: http://www.greatballsofyarn.com/news/cruise06.pdf

Obviously the LA cruise is MUCH cheaper (although for me it will mean 2 one-way airfares), and a little bit shorter. I've been to all of these Caribbean stops, but not the West Coast stops, so I think I'm more interested in the LA trip.

Also, I did call the TA listed for the Sea Socks cruise. Since I'm cruising next week, I wanted to know if I could book on board, get the OBC, and then transfer the booking to her and the group. She was really nice, but she wasn't sure if it was possible. I think I'm going to try it, if it doesn't work I could always book that separately and change the on board booking to another date, I think.
