Galveston hotel deals?

Does anyone know of decent hotel deals in May in Galveston? We don't need anything fancy - just clean and safe. If they have cruise special, even better.

Holiday Inn or Hilton on Seawall Blvd are good. San Luis Resort is next to them also. It's nice, but pricer than the other two. They are within walking distance to Rainforest cafe (if your interested) and directly across from the beach. (Approx. 5-7 mins to port)

We're staying at the Super 8 on 61st Street. GOt it for $52.11 a night (no 2-night minimum like some of the hotels), with our AARP discount, for night of Sept. 9. They let you park there for free while you cruise, and we'll just take a taxi to the pier. You can check Trip Advisor for reviews of the hotels there. I didn't want to spend a lot of $$ to stay one night, and the fact that we can park there for free is a bonus. We'll eat at Gaido's and have a nice meal and still come out ahead!

We are booked on the Conquest for May of 2007. After checking out the area, we've booked a room at the Marriott at IAH ($129.00 a night). Then we are arranging transportation with Carnival on Sunday morning from the airport.

We had a group of nine and stayed one night at these condos. They have free cruise parking and shuttle service also. I was very pleased with the unit and free breakfast to boot.
