Casino question

When you're playing in the casino and a server brings you a drink, I know theres the auto gratuity on the charge, but are you supposed to tip them even more since they brought you the drink?

I guess this is really a question that can go either way, but does anyone know if they expect more since they are bringing it to you?

thanks

No, I wouldn't think so. If you order a drink in one of the lounges or at the show someone is bringing the drink to you; same when you are by the pool. the 15% is perfectly acceptable and nothing more is expected. NMNita

Do they "Expect" more? No, I don't think so.

However, if when they walk up, ask you by name if you would like another (and they remember your favorite beverage),,, I would think an additional gratuity would be in order along with special recognition by name in the customer comment card at the end of the cruise.

You have a $5 drink. you have been charged the mandatory 15% gratuity of $0.75. How much more do you want to tip?

An additional tip here is not only unnecessary, it borders on excessively pretentious.

I totally agree. I don't care if they know my name or not. 15% is enough.

I don't tip drink by drink except the grat. that is already add. However, if I have use the same bar waiter or sever almost the entire time and they remember me I might tip them in the in. On my last cruise I did tip my bar waitress (Hristina on the Holiday)

Ultimately, the CHOICE is YOURS. It is not expected but appreciated.

rvrgirl - you're definitely right on the math, but I feel (felt) weird about not actually handing them a tip (and what's a $) when they brought my drink -- I know it's in the price and on the S&S card, I just always think it's nice to give a tip to someone who brings me a drink. Now, I've only been on one other cruise, and I'm talking more along the lines of beach clubs, all inclusive resorts, etc. The other cruise, I wasn't 21 yet, but I think I still tipped $1 when they brought me a soda or whatever.

Anyway, I definitely don't think I come off as pretentious, but now I'll be either more discreet or just quit it all together. It's funny how you can do something and just assume it's s.o.p and then read a thread and realize -- not so much.

The 15% is enough... We are normally in groups and all order drinks. Let's say each time they get five of us a $5 drink, they are making $3.75 on the automatic tip. You do 10 groups of 5 per hour, I think I need to be a waiter on board for the $37.50/hr. job. I'm sure they'd appreciate an extra tip, I mean who wouldn't, but by the end of the cruise I feel I've done my duty of spending too much money on the booze....
