NancySellsGlass Posted September 13, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 13, 2006 I've been reading up on the Miami hotels and haven't seen many that offer shuttles. Is there such an animal? :) Thanks!
p5woody Posted September 13, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 13, 2006 I am also searching for the same thing. I found the following hotel with a courtesy airport shuttle and a shuttle to the port for a fee. I called the hotel and they said it was 18 dollars for a family of four to the port but he did not sound too confident. I called at night, I am going to call back during the day to verify that information. I have never stayed here so if anybody has any feedback on this hotel please let me know. I have choice points so I can stay for free. RSWBADGER Posted September 13, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 13, 2006 I've been reading up on the Miami hotels and haven't seen many that offer shuttles. Is there such an animal? :) Thanks! We are cruising on the NCL Pearl in December are are staying the night before at the Marriott Courtyard Miami Beach Oceanfront on Collins Avenue. NCL has a shuttle from the hotel to the ship on the day of cruise. NCL uses this hotel as one of it's pre-cruise stays. Check with your cruiseline on which hotels they use.
kdrosend Posted September 13, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 13, 2006 we stayed at the days inn international airport & they have a shuttle to the hotel & the port but it was an awful hotel. Wouldn't recommend it. I know there is another days inn too & have heard the same thing about it. We are going again next month & decided to stay by the port which is what most people recommend on this board. We got the fortune house which is a condo hotel, 2 bedroom 2 bath for $109 bayside. I will let you know how it is when we get back. Karen

NancySellsGlass Posted September 13, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted September 13, 2006 Thanks! I think we're going to stay at La Quinta Airport East. They have a shuttle from the airport AND to the port. There were quite a few recommendations for it on the Trip Advisor.
racegrrl Posted September 14, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 14, 2006 Nancy, are these free shuttles to both the airport and the port? If so, we might just have to book there too. Thanks. (trying to save $ so we can buy more of those lovely umbrella drinks! ;) )
newmexicoNita Posted September 14, 2006 #8 Share Posted September 14, 2006 Saving every penny is important to all of us and I don't know about La Quinta, but there are some really seedy and dangerous locations around the airport. I would make sure of the area before I booked the hotel. My only thoought is:if they are the only hotel that offers both shuttles could there be a reason why? Where can you eat near there? You you checked that out? I am not trying to discourage you, but I do know that one side of the airport is awful. We used to stay at a Best WEstern there cause they offerd free shuttle from the hotel and very cheap to the ship; no more. Now we stay either near the pier or at one of the locations on blue Lagoon. racegrrl Posted September 14, 2006 #9 Share Posted September 14, 2006 Nita, thanks for the input! Is Blue Lagoon a street or a neighborhood? Always looking for recommendations. Currently trying to book Miami 4* on Priceline - limited hotels in this category, so it more or less guarantees just a few hotels we might get. And you can get some really good bargains this way. :D
NancySellsGlass Posted September 14, 2006 Author #10 Share Posted September 14, 2006 Thanks for the information Nita. Here's what they are saying on Trip Advisor: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g34438-d217704-Reviews-La_Quinta_Inn_Miami_Airport_East-Miami_Florida.html And yes Beth, they have free shuttles from the airport and to the port. We're planning on grabbing a taxi or hopping back over to the airport and taking a bus to the beach since our flight gets in around 3 in the afternoon. We'll find something to eat down there! ;) But there are several restaurants listed nearby if you wanted to stay near the hotel. Our cruise isn't until Christmas but I'll report back here after our trip!

I also just read the reviews on TripAdvisor on La Quinta. It really doesn't sound bad, again I don't know which area is which. I just know the area we used to stay in is really bad. They hotel could be great but not the area or it could all be fine. Nancysellsglass has listed the website for Tripadvisor. You may want to read that and decide. legalwife Posted September 15, 2006 #12 Share Posted September 15, 2006 Definitely don't stay at Days Inn by the Convention Center. Friends just stayed there and there were roaches in room and it was just awful. Not worth the free shuttle from port and airport deal to sleep in a place where you feel you must wear shoes in the room. Others waiting to catch shuttle to port said same to them. Yes, I did not stay there, but reliable info.

delarda Posted September 16, 2006 #14 Share Posted September 16, 2006 Last April we stayed at the Radisson Hotel Miami for a couple of days. One can walk outside and take the free skytram (or whatever they call it) to the seaport village. The Hard Rock Cafe is one of my favorites so it was good to find the cafe there. There was no free shuttle that I knew of but it was okay as the hotel is really, really, close to the port. We'll be staying there again on November 10 for our Cayman/Jamaica cruise. westernmom Posted September 27, 2006 #17 Share Posted September 27, 2006 We stayed at a Baymont Inn near the airport that had free shuttles to and from the airport and the pier. We stayed pre and post cruise. Nice big rooms. A Bennigan's resturant was right next door. It was also near the car rental drop off that we used. Great prices with a decent fee breakfast buffet. I would stay there again.
delarda Posted October 5, 2006 #18 Share Posted October 5, 2006 The hotel is really nice, Vegas style without the casino. The dining room was a bit pricey so the first night we ate in the bar/lounge. Their chicken quesadillas were so good. The next day we ate at lunch at Hard Rock Cafe at the Seaport Village. One can take the Metro Mover (thanks for the clarification lmondrop) right outside the door--it's free. There are many restrauants there. I probably would not take the Mover late at night. buckeye12 Posted October 16, 2006 #20 Share Posted October 16, 2006 We stayed here pre cruise two weeks ago. It was a decent hotel not much to it. We stayed here with our choice points so it was free for us. Our original plan was for my DH to drop me and the kids off at the port while he returned the rental car, but we found out that they had shuttle service from the airport to the hotel and that they also had a shuttle service to the port so it all worked out for us. But we did have to call a reserve a spot on the port shuttle.
