fridaythe13th Posted November 30, 2011 #2126 Share Posted November 30, 2011 When I was bidding for same time frame for 2011 I also checked website directly and found out there was a 2 night minim stay for Sheraton OSJ. I was lucky enough to bid $105 3.5 star & get LaConcha for this year (I'm sailing on the Summit with you this year). Hope you can find Adela:) I actually would have liked to get anything for $111. I can't be picky at this point. I'll just keep trying! I was hoping not to have to take a taxi into OSJ, but if we have to we will.
Kikkycat Posted December 1, 2011 #2127 Share Posted December 1, 2011 Sounds good. I'll check it out. Looks like it's $96 today on hotwire for Jan 28. Staying 1 nite pre cruise at isle verde and 2 nites post cruise which we have decided where yet. We Would like to try a different part of the island for once. Do you rent your car from the airport? Yes, we went with Hertz and DH is a gold club member.

We have someone with us that's never been and wants to check it out. I also like that there's a CVS right there.:D
lake_wannabees Posted December 2, 2011 #2130 Share Posted December 2, 2011 We don't cruise until Oct 14 so I've been looking for a two day pre-cruise and one day post-cruise. Will use the hints to add Mayaguez and Cabo Rojo in for more bid's per day. Just won my post cruise 3.5* for $80 at the Radisson Ambassador. Joyce For anyone interested.........the friends and family code for Radisson is carlsonf. If you put the code in "promotions" and the rate is available it will usually come up at an $80 rate.....so you don't really need Priceline to get a standard room at the Radisson. We've stayed there but prefer the clubroom accommodations (higher floor, nicer room, breakfast, afternoon snacks, etc) but those are not what you get either with Priceline or the friends and family promo. fridaythe13th Posted December 3, 2011 #2136 Share Posted December 3, 2011 Got it! I was putting the code in the wrong place. A message comes up that they will need to know the employee name and work location at the time of check in. Do I just say ok?
LovesMist Posted December 3, 2011 #2137 Share Posted December 3, 2011 FridayThe13th....I have read stories that when you use that code they will check you in and ask for your Friend's name or a letter sometimes. If you don't have the letter or correct name...they charge the full price to your credit card. It may not happen every time...but I'd be cautious. ...just my 2 cents. A message comes up that they will need to know the employee name and work location at the time of check in. Do I just say ok? I've used it without ever having to give any info at check in.......BUT, I now see the pop up that comes up explaining an employee name/location will be required at check in. Might not be too difficult to get a name/location or even a letter to use from a local Radisson near your home. I'd make the reservation and then try to fill in the blanks and check on the specific requirements. Unlike Priceline, your friends/family reservation can always be cancelled. We usually stay at the Marriott Stellaris using Priceline. Actually going to San Juan for 8 days in March, land only, and got great rates on Priceline at two different hotels including the Marriott. The Radisson is certainly OK for a 1-2 day pre/post cruise.....location is great. You will also find their regular rates usually go down as your check in date draws closer. Good luck, Marty Edited December 3, 2011 by martyap

It is $125 with the AAA discount so I may just keep my booking and see what happens. I'll keep trying Priceline too just in case!

shonandsuzie Posted December 3, 2011 #2142 Share Posted December 3, 2011 After weeks and weeks of denied bids on Priceline and no good prices on Hotwire, I had to bite the bullet so we can move on with our other travel prep! Not sure if something amazing is going on in SJU that weekend but the prices were consistantly more expensive than any other weekend. :( HOTWIRE 1/20-1/22/11 San Juan Conrad Condado Plaza Four Star, Ocean Front, Near Beach, Casino, Spa (were some of the markers listed) $187/night
Capette Posted December 12, 2011 #2143 Share Posted December 12, 2011 I should have looked at this site before bidding dang it. We really wanted Marriott Stellaris but felt that the Name Your Own Price would be a better option. We ended up getting it for April 13-14 for 145 a night. It wouldn't accept anyting less. So happy with the Marriott but sad I didn't show a little more patience
cruisergal 1 Posted December 22, 2011 #2144 Share Posted December 22, 2011 I finally just booked the Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel and Casino in S.J. through Hotwire for Jan 20-22 for $138/night. They consider it a 4* hotel.
desidude007 Posted December 26, 2011 #2145 Share Posted December 26, 2011 I was looking for pre cruise stay (14th jan). Since it is long weekend prices are very high for that weekend. Finally ( after waiting for almost 2 months) I got courtyard isle verde beach resort for $102 and it is very good deal based on my research. If you are still looking for 14th Jan weekend date then book it threw hot-wire. Currently they have deal around $100 for 3.5 star and it is courtyard near airport. For the pre cruise hotel I went through Priceline and got the Sheraton Puerto Rico Convention Center Hotel & Casino, they consider it a 3 star hotel I got it for $125, 40% off. For the post cruise hotel I went through Hotwire and also got the Sheraton Puerto Rico Convention Center Hotel & Casino, they consider it a 4 star hotel I got it for $103, 50% off. Puffinater Posted January 10, 2012 #2147 Share Posted January 10, 2012 Found this info posted elsewhere by someone else and figured it might help someone over here. Radisson Amabassador San Juan 11/30/12 1 night precruise Bid zone 8, Resort and 4 star $75 rejected. Rebid zone 8 added 3.5 star increased to $80 accepted + fees $16.97 = 96.97 Pricing on hotel website shows total cost of $218.38.

AuntBek Posted January 18, 2012 #2150 Share Posted January 18, 2012 (edited) We just booked Hotwire for pre & post cruise stays. For 3 nights pre cruise 4/5-8 we booked: 4* San Juan Area, amenities casino, smoke free rooms, pool, etc (not beach or oceanfront) for $113 per night ($116 for 3 people) - Sheraton Puerto Rico (convention center location). We expected and wanted this because we will be renting a car to drive to farther locations for the day and wanted a nicer hotel with pool to come back to. For 1 night post cruise 4/15 we booked: 3.5* San Juan Area, amenities casino, fitness center, pool, etc (not beach or oceanfront) for $111 ($114 for 3 people) - Sheraton Old San Juan. Again, we expected and wanted this because of the location even though it's not as nice as other hotels. We plan to walk off of the Carnival Victory, drop our luggage with the bell desk, and walk to the fort and OSJ. We fly out midday on the 16th. Overall, we got exactly what we expected for a lower price than a "named hotel" web site. I'm happy! :D Edited January 18, 2012 by AuntBek
