slotaddict Posted September 22, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 22, 2006 Are there hairdryers of decent quality on the Century, or should I bring my own?
sivia Posted September 22, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 22, 2006 If you are at all particular about a hair dryer, take your own. Good luck.
slotaddict Posted September 22, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted September 22, 2006 Are they the same kind as on the Zenith, stuck in a drawer and burn your hands.
lucky white heather Posted September 22, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 22, 2006 Are they the same kind as on the Zenith, stuck in a drawer and burn your hands. Ours was not the kind in a drawer.... it was fixed to the wall above the toilet in the bathroom and seemed quite good to me although I have easily dried hair cut short so it never was blowing long enough to find out if it would burn your hands. PattyMichael Posted September 23, 2006 #6 Share Posted September 23, 2006 We were just on the Century 9/2, the hairdryer was new, above the potty, worked just fine
GramaFran Posted September 24, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 24, 2006 Just off the Century in a Sky Suite and hair dryer was great - stuck on wall near sink/door to bathroom. I actually stood outside the bathroom to dry my hair. It has 3 settings for air and a button to hold down to work. I liked it and I have medium length hair. slotaddict Posted September 24, 2006 Author #8 Share Posted September 24, 2006 Thank you, if I don;t have to bring a hairdryer I won't. I always try to pack light but it never works. At least I can cross this off my list. Thanks everyone.
rebeccalouise Posted September 24, 2006 #9 Share Posted September 24, 2006 I have never had a good hair dryer on any cruise. You hand gets hotter than your hair! Bring your own.
GramaFran Posted September 24, 2006 #10 Share Posted September 24, 2006 I will disagree - the new hair dryers on the Century did not get hot on the hand and were very easy to use. Yes I have had hair dryers that were terrible but not on the "new Century" Francine
shofer Posted September 25, 2006 #11 Share Posted September 25, 2006 We cruised both the Century (old) and Mercury and found the dryers to be falling apart and had to wrap a washcloth around the handle to keep from burning my hand. The ones on Summit were better quality but were showing some wear & tear from our first sailing on her in 2002 and our recent one in January. I have short hair and will probably bring my own dryer in the future. I would love to see X refurbish all their Century Class ships put new appointments in all the cabins rather than keep building bigger ships. Another wish on my list is that they would take a page from Oceania and build a couple of new smaller ships to cover all the market.
SnowFlake8 Posted September 25, 2006 #12 Share Posted September 25, 2006 We got off the Century last week. Had two hairdryers in our CC cabin. One in the bathroom and the other "hidden" in the drawer of the dresser. Both worked fine -- no burning. :D

Thanks for the information. I still always bring on with me. My travel dryer is so small and powerful. I am sure that occasionally the dryers don't work and this would be hard for me. My hair is long and takes a while to dry. But still nice to know.
poetic license Posted September 25, 2006 #15 Share Posted September 25, 2006 Yes, the new dryers on CENTURY are great! A VAST improvement over what was on board before the refurbishment. It will be the only ship that I sail where I WON'T bring my own dryer. Nicki
SnowFlake8 Posted September 26, 2006 #16 Share Posted September 26, 2006 We are in CC class, what room were you in? slotaddict -- We were in 9153. Could occasionally hear the "ding" of the elevator when it stopped on our floor but other than that, the cabin was fine.
