Upgrade at Embarkation

Has anyone ever asked for an upgrade at embarkation?

I'm not talking about a gurantee cabin either, just a regular assigned cabin.

Thought I might try it.

Surely it couldn't hurt, all they could do is say no maybe a little chuckle.

They don't do it. They do all the upgrades prior to sailing. Even if there was a cabin in a better catagory, they would charge you the upgrade price at that time so if you want a better cabin, upgrade before you leave. Sometimes the prices drop just before sailing and you can get a good deal. I upgraded 3 days before my cruise (had a 4A) to a 6D and got an OBC for $20 because the price had dropped lower then what I had paid for the 4A.

It is not likely to happen, (it might) but the worst case is that they tell you it is not available. What have you got to lose by asking.
