juicyjuju Posted September 30, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2006 Does Seabourn dock on the river in downtown Bangkok? I know the larger ships dock way out of town but I thought I read somewhere that the sisters are small enough to sail up the river.
dd@sea Posted September 30, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 30, 2006 Juicyjuju, When we were on the Spirit a few years ago I remember us docking closer to town than the other larger ships but not exactly downtown. We had a shuttle bus provided that took us for appox. a 30 min., more if traffic was at its peak, to the Sheraton Hotel vicinity on the river. Are you taking the overnight extension to Cambodia or are you staying in the Bangkok area? We loved this trip!
Two4Sea Posted October 1, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 1, 2006 I’m curious about this too, I’ll be there in march. The large port is Laem Chabang down the coast, then I found this port well up the river http://www.bkp.port.co.th/bkp/about/eng/about.asp?link=1, when compared to a city map it is quite close to downtown. Is this about the right location DD? Bill
Bruther Posted October 1, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 1, 2006 Yup, they dock downtown and right where the map shows. It is a highlight of the stop when she sails after sunset and you cruise the loop and get a view of the downtown in the background. It has been over a year since we were in Bangkok and am curious as to whether they have finished the mega bridge just south of the port?
