SimonaD Posted October 4, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 4, 2006 Wanted to know if you could swim from the beach or not? check this attractions map. http://www.arubatravelinfo.com/attractionsmap.html and this article about the sites. I notice the wrecks are always mentioned only in conjuction with diving, so I am thinking they're only accessible from a boat.... http://www.arubatravelinfo.com/diving.html

Rare MrSchwump Posted October 6, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 6, 2006 There may be a number of sunken tug boats around Curacao, but I know for sure there's one not far off the beach at Caracas Bay. There's a beach club there and a small pier. The tug is in about 20-30 feet of water about 100 yards from the pier, going toward the ocean. It's pretty cool. SimonaD Posted October 6, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 6, 2006 The links you left were for Aruba??? LOL, so sorry! We're making stops on both Aruba and Curacao, and I have Aruba on my brain! In my notes it says also Caracas Bay, wreck in about 17 ft of water, possible to reach from the beach... haven't been there yet. Snorkeling is also supposed to be great at Kontiki/Mambo/Seaquarium beaches. We're renting a car, and will check it out over Christmas.
Rent-A-Guide Posted October 27, 2006 #6 Share Posted October 27, 2006 The Tugboat ( http://www.dreamwrecks.com/tugboat.htm ) is only 20 feet away from shore at Caracas Bay. You can easily swim to it from shore, to and from the wreck is also very nice. (I was a Snuba operator there for 2 years) The sea over there is usually very calm. It is a prime spot for beginning snorkelers. Of the 5 things you would like to see as snorkeler/diver you can see 4, in a very small area: fish, coral, wreck and a drop-off! Entrance fee $3, F&B and there is some water-sport activities (jet ski's, banana boat, canoeing) Hope you have fun, Henry"Leo"Plaate Rent-A-Guide
