boarding time

I too am wondering the same thing.

Going in 1 month and was figuring we would get to the pier about 11 am and hope to be onboard by noon.

Got my docs today and there is a BIG ORANGE paper in them saying not to come until 2 pm.

Something about needing to clear the ship of the previous weeks passengers and due to strict customs regulations these days- it is taking longer than usual ??????

Please say it isn't so? I don't want a 2 hour window for the entire ship to get on board - OMG!!!

Every single document for every single ship tells you to board at 2pm. Those of us who have done this before ignore that and get there early. This is, after all, the 1st day of your cruise. (The day you disembark cannot be counted, as it is nothing more than being herded off the ship as quickly as possible!) Get there by noon!

You can board as soon as the ship has been cleared (around 11 or 11:30) but you can't get into your cabin till 1 pm. Just head up to the Windjammer have some lunch and relax till you can get into your cabin.

You are paying for the first day, you may as well enjoy as much as possible... Great day to explore the ship and find out where the important public areas are located. Don't expect to be allowed in your room until 1:00 p.m., so you will be dragging your carry-ons around.

I started a thread similar to this a few days ago, the basic answer has been that the sheer volume of people getting off the freedom is making it take longer and they cannot allow us to board until they are off. The general time frame has been between 11:30 - 12:30 so we plan on heading over around 11:00 or so. We are diamond so we have priority boarding so we know when they do start boarding we will get on soon,

Or you can do as we did last cruise and take your carryon's to the purser's desk and they will tag and hold them for you until you pick them up when your cabin's ready.
