bab15316 Posted July 21, 2004 #26 Share Posted July 21, 2004 Is there a charge for smoothies and other items at the smoothie bar? I know my kids 10 and 7 would enjoy that, but I don't want them charging alot on the S&S cards.
serene56 Posted July 21, 2004 #27 Share Posted July 21, 2004 Babs: you can have their spending privilege turned off at the pursers desk. I do know that ice cream is free but dont know what the poster is talking about a smoothie. (I do know bars and suck charge for their non alcoholic frozen foo foo drinks) \ My dad used to make banana splits every day at the ice cream bar. bab15316 Posted July 21, 2004 #28 Share Posted July 21, 2004 Serene: Thanks for the reply.....Knowing my kids, I'd have a $500 bill for smoothies if I'm not careful!
Cinderelli Posted July 21, 2004 Author #29 Share Posted July 21, 2004 I take it the smoothies are "EXTRA!" I definitely plan to uy the kids soda card.
serene56 Posted July 21, 2004 #30 Share Posted July 21, 2004 I am not saying smooties are extra--only asking for the poster to let us know what smoothies they are talking about. My kids liked the frozen foo foo slushies... but like I said--they do cost. Cindi::: you ARE aware that soda is free for kids under 12 at dinner?? you can aalso carry on a 12 pack of sodas for the kiddies

L2J Posted July 21, 2004 #32 Share Posted July 21, 2004 I think I read at one time they have like an "art" contest or something? I could be wrong but I'm sure that I read that somewhere on this board.

cruisinqt Posted July 22, 2004 #34 Share Posted July 22, 2004 Sorry it took so long to get back to you guys. I'm doing a large wall mural for a client right now and it's taking up a lot of my time. I read about the smoothie bar in my Carnival brochure. It just says there's a place called action alley on the Conquest that has a teen disco, an arcade, juke box, and a bar with sodas and smoothies. It doesn't mention the cost of the smoothies. I have heard other CCers mention that their kids loved it and spent most of their time there. I didn't think to ask how much the smoothies were. I wish I had, I'm kind of curious myself. I read it back when the boards were being changed around and everyone was posting together on that one board. So I don't know where to go to find the thread I was on. As far as spending money for smoothies and other extras, you might do what I am doing. My kids are doing odd jobs around the house for a dollar or two here and there. That money gets put away for the cruise and they can spend it how ever they see fit. But they know that that's all they get. So they have to budget themselves and their spending. I've done this before and it works well. Just be sure to put your foot down and let them know that you will not be giving them any additional money to spend. On our last cruise each of our children had earned over $30.00 each over the course of 6 months or so. They had a blast getting to spend the cash on whatever they wanted to. And they surprised me by making their money last for most of the cruise.
Cinderellie Posted July 22, 2004 #35 Share Posted July 22, 2004 cruisinqt, I agree with you 100%. Our kids bring their own spending money to do with what they like, and they have had to learn to choose wisely, spread it out and make it count. We give them a certain allowance on top for the arcades, and gift them with 1 moderate souvenir from the trip, but they are responsible for souvenirs and treats other than that. We do not even let them charge things on their Sign and Sail card. It is too tempting.
