For any one that will be in the BVI over the next couple of days and planning an excursion to the Baths. A small island freighter hit the rocks near Fallen Jerusalem and is partially sunk. There is debris in the area and leakage from the boat. Here is the official release on 10/16. It is a small ship, not a barge. hopefully this will only be for a couple of days.

Released by National Parks this afternoon.

The BVI National Parks Trust wishes to advise the public that effective immediately, the following National Parks have been closed until further notice:

Baths

Devils Bay

Spring Bay

Fallen Jerusalem

The closure of these National Parks is necessary due to the danger to visitors from the pollution caused by spilled oil and floating debris from the sunken barge off Fallen Jerusalem

We apologise for the inconvenience.

Has anyone recently returned from a visit to Virgin Gorda? I understand from another forum that cleanup is ongoing. What are the cruise ships doing for substitutions for excursions to the Baths?
