Leafpeeper Posted October 18, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 18, 2006 For your next cruise: British West Indies is correct. St. Thomas is US Virgin Islands and St. John's is British Virgin Islands. We loved Grand Turk, where you can walk off the ship and onto a gorgeous beach and then into Margaritaville. What can be better than that! It's like a private island with Jimmy Buffet. 2112 Posted October 20, 2006 #6 Share Posted October 20, 2006 For your next cruise: British West Indies is correct. St. Thomas is US Virgin Islands and St. John's is British Virgin Islands. This is not correct. St. John is also US Virgin Islands. The USVI consist of St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix. The British Virgin Islands include Tortola, Virgin Gorda and Jost Van Dyke (and a few others). Back to the OP, everyone else is correct. B.W.I. stands for British West Indies. The Cayman Islands are also part of the B.W.I.
PES Posted April 1, 2008 #7 Share Posted April 1, 2008 The BWI stands for British West Indies. I lived on Grand Turk working for RCA in support of the US space program from 1966 till 1970.
CRUISERTN Posted April 9, 2008 #8 Share Posted April 9, 2008 Since you lived on Grand Turk, you probably have the answer to the best beach snorkeling area....we want to see as much underwater life as we can and take some good photos......or if there is an area where you can take a boat that is better, please let me know. Any info on the BEST snorkel area will be appreciated.
