Hi Sandi,

The only time I felt sick was friday night at dinner, we had the 8:15 seating. We dined at a table in the back, up against the windows on the bottom level right above the engine room. I had to lie down for about 1 hour after dinner.

I felt much better after that and I met up with my husband in the casino, He was doing very well.

On your next cruise try ginger pills they work great and you can get them in walmart for around $3.00 a bottle

DisneyLynn:

You were right near us. We also had the 8:15 seating in the back of the dining room. It sure was very bumpy over there wasn't it?

By any chance are you and your husband from Philadelphia? We met a couple at lunch on Fri who were sitting in the same area for dinner. I'm wondering if you are that couple? :)

Next cruise I will definitely be taking some seasickness pills.

Sandi,

We are from Lond Island.

We are in our early 40's and Carnival put us with 2 single young girls from philadelphia. I felt bad for them. It was the first cruise we sat with people that were not family. The girls were very nice, but I think they were hoping to sit with other young singles.

We were also on the Legend Cruise to Nowhere Oct 19 -21. Must agree with Sandi that it was a very nice short getaway but must disagree on some of the other items:

Boat- Agree a bit over the top with the decor but must disagree on the upkeep of the ship. Ww have been on 20+ cruises but never Carnival. Carpets were dirty, laminate in room damaged and not repaired. We were let into rooms that were not properly prepared for a new guest. Dirty towels in the bath, glasses and food from pervious guests. This would never happen on Princess, NCL nor Celebrity cruises.

Entertainment: SHOWS,Very inferior to other Cruise Lines

Dancing Options: Nice band in one club nice and able to dance but other clubs very nice music but NO DANCE FLOOR????? Only able to listen not dance. So, all in all very limited evening activities for dancers.

Dining Room: Just OK, very noisy and food served too fast and cold.

Supper Club: Great food and service for a charge of 30/person. Worth is for the steak and the nice atmosphere.

Buffet Lunch: Very nice selection but spread all over the place at many different stations. You need to walk around the entire buffet areas before making your selections.

Summary: Fine for a two day cruise but we would have been very unhappy for a 7 day cruise .

Hi 804 :)

Our cabin was spotless....we had fresh towels and clean glasses the whole time. As a matter of fact our steward gave us fresh towels and ice in the evening.

I loved the food in the dining room and didn't find it to be cold or served too fast. Only had pizza in the lido when we first got there so I don't know how the other stuff was.

Sorry to hear that you weren't totally pleased. We were very happy with everything and will be booking the 8 day on the Miracle for next June.

We were also on this cruise and agree it was way toooooo short. There were four of us in two separate balcony cabins. Our cabin steward (pedro) was awesome. very attentive. Got towel animals both nights. Our dining room experience was aweful. Although the food was very good, our service was terrible in comparison to another cruise line i was on. I sailed Carnival twice now and have had problems with dining service before too. I suppose it would have been even better if we didn't have some obnoxious woman screaming at the top of her lungs every few minutes. Some people are just so dang rude. I guess she needed attention. Didn't see the cruise director ever and when we asked were told "i don't know, i'm new here". The ship is very nice and my cabin was very clean. In all fairness we did not see the shows but saw both late night comedians. first one was just ok but friday night he was quite funny. very big potty mouth though. The ship was rockin and rollin friday night. i was in casino and almost felt like i would tip over. i would sail carnival again and just not expect great dining service. the lido buffet was very good as was the pizza and hot dogs.

Our waiters in the dining room during all meals were fabulous. I don't have a bad word to say about them. They were very attentive and brought us whatever we wanted. Having an obnoxious woman screaming at the table can definitely put a damper on things. I would have been quite annoyed at her. If she annoyed me too much, I would have politely told her to shut up.:D

We saw the cruise director when we were playing a game in the theatre and also at one of the shows I think. I also heard him make announcements.

The ship sure was rocking. Didn't like that at all. It was from all the winds. I guess the captain couldn't get out of it because the whole northeast had a horrible storm on Friday. When I got home on Sat I spoke to a few people and they said the rain and wind in NY were horrible. At least most of the day on Friday was nice. I was in my cabin at the time when the winds picked up and I really thought we were in a hurricane.

I will definitely go with Carnival again. Am looking into a much longer cruise. 2 nights is not enough.

hI anjo 616,

Oh my god, that screaming woman in the diningroom. What a nut. If her child acted that way would she have deciplined them? What a crazy. I agree about the service in the diningroom. I ordered the pasta as a starter so thye took an entree portion and emptied half the dish and presented me with it. You could see evidence of sauce all over the entire dish . Looked like they placed the pasta in an already used dish.

Never sailed Carnival before and now I know why. However, for a 2 day trip next October it is just fine.

Did you notice upon entering the ship on Thursday afternoon, they did not even offer to help you find your room??? An elderly couple were lost, we had to help them.

Oh well, in all fairness it was worth it. Most of the staff were very nice.

I didn't mind the winds so much as I was not really affected badly except to stumble occassionally. However, that woman in the dining room needed a good kick in her butt. As for telling her to shut up, I did and so did others at my table (by the way, screamer was not at my table thank goodness). We also experienced some very rude people in the sing along bar. Two big crowds of ladies on each side of us were gabbing away so it was literally impossible to hear Brady and sing along. very annoying. After all there is plenty of places on the ship to get together to chat, why pick a sing along bar???? I would consider Carnival again and in fact am contemplating going to Novia Scotia in June but i will be prepared and not expect too much and hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised.

One thing that I was told when I first booked that cruise and asked a lot of ??? on here is that you really shouldn't judge the cruise line by a CTN. Most CTN's have a lot of people that just come on for a short getaway to gamble. From what I have been reading about the longer trips, it is not like that. Also, I read a lot of the boards and read how you can have rude people on any cruise line. There are rude people all over the world from every social class. It's unfortunate that you had to experience this. We are going to be booking the 8 day cruise to the E. Caribbean for next June. I had a great time because I was spending time alone with my husband and because I didn't have to cook, clean, make the bed or go to work. That in itself makes for a wonderful vacation. :D

You are absolutely correct Sandi149. However, I have sailed Carnival before this cruise. Carnival Victory to be exact to Novia Scotia on a five day and was not impressed at all with their service in the dining room either. As far as rude people, you are correct there too. Rudeness is everywhere and it does not bother me as i will get up and walk away and it certainly is not Carnival's fault or any other cruise lines' fault that there are rude people aboard. That being said, i will consider and, in fact, am considering cruising Carnival Victory again to Novia Scotia with my whole family (my previous was with bowling league). This particular cruise was a girls' getaway and i had a fantastic time due to the company i was with. I make my own fun and that is why i would bring my husband and kids with me to novia scotia for them to enjoy. Cruising is cruising. If there is rude people, then i will do as before and just ignore them. Have a great time on the Miracle.

Sandi, you have the right attitude, and I am sure you will enjoy the longer cruise. As for dining room issues, you can ask for a two-top, you know - we go as a foursome and always ask for and get a booth - no problems with screamers!

The other caveat: The only reason they can do these cruises from New York to the Caribbean these days is because the new ships are so fast over the open sea - quite different from the old ships that left Miami and went "all the way" - to Nassau. The flip side of covering so much ground, however, is that they really have to haul some a$$ on the transits from NYC to the island area and back. There's not much room in the schedule to avoid bad seas. So... if there are choppy seas - and there are ALWAYS choppy seas off Cape Hatteras - they have to plow right through for the 6 to 12 hours it takes to cross them.

My advice is to take whatever seasickness remedy you prefer - before you hit those parts of the ocean. We prefer Bonine, or Bonine plus wrist bands - but everybody has their own favorite in that regard. Just take it BEFORE the bad seas - like somewhere off Maryland/Virginia. Once you hit the Caribbean, it's not a problem, unless you actually hit a storm... (Another great reason to book eraly in the season - hurricanes before July are VERY rare!)

Hi Baseballdad:

I remember 30-40 years ago when all of the cruise ships only left out of NY. My parents used to take a 2 week cruise on the Oceanic during December over Christmas/New years. At that time they let visitors onboard for a Bon Voyage party. They would sit out on deck with the winter coats on until they got into warmer waters down south.

A cousin of mine and I were discussing the waters by Cape Hatteras. He believes that it is so rough because that is where the warm waters of the Gulf Stream meet up with the cold Labrador current from Canada. I didn't get seasick last week. I was just scared. I had read a couple months ago where the Legend listed to one side because of a big wave. So that is what I instantly thought of and got very scared. Eating dinner that 2nd night was very nerve wracking for me. I have no idea why they put the dining room at the back of the ship. Very rocky over there. I felt like I was on a plane during bad turbulance. It also felt like we were going 60 mph, which I know we weren't, but it certainly felt like that. I will, however, take the Bonine just in case though. We are going to go to our Travel Agent this Sat and book the 8 day Eastern Caribbean cruise aboard the Miracle for the June 4th sailing. I figure it should be warm here in NY and we will be able to lay out by the pools. I am also going to try and get a cabin more midship and lower down. Last week we were on deck 6 and towards the front of the ship. I want a cabin on deck 4 and right in the center. I figure it should be a bit less rocky in that area.

Sandi :)
