cmacf1 Posted October 25, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 25, 2006 We've been moved yet again from fully obstructed E deck to unobstructed Plaza deck (209 and 211.) Can anybody tell me the advantages and disadvantages of being on Plaza deck? Is noise a factor? We're sort of below the stage, but not exactly (it looks, on the deck map, like we're below nothing, but the stage is fairly close by.) How far below us will the water be? How big are the windows? The only other cruise I've been on, we were quite high up (paid for by somebody else :-).
lake5298 Posted October 25, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 25, 2006 You are in a nicer cabin on Plaza deck. Noise never seems a problem, unlike the restricted view cabins when you will be disturbed by raising & lowering tenders. You shouldn't get noise from the theatre... on my last cruise we were directly below the showbar and still had no noise. The windows are big picture windows, not portholes. The water is another 2-3 decks below you.
Canuck Cruzer Posted October 25, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 25, 2006 We stayed in P333 on the Grand before. We had no noise. We had a picture window and like mentioned...a couple decks above water...but looked quite close. It is pretty handy to get to the casino and the theatres. A bit of a walk to get to the dining rooms at the back...or to the top decks. We didn't mind it at all.
Pam in CA Posted October 25, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 25, 2006 Which ship? It does make a difference. My daughter had a Plaza deck cabin on the CB a couple of years ago (I think it was P227) and there was a lot of noise from the stabilizers. So much so that one of the nearby cabins tried to get up a petition to have the stabilizers withdrawn. (Like that was going to happen.) On the other hand, the location was very convenient and the hallway quiet. I had a Plaza cabin on the Island Princess last March/April for the 15-day LA>HI cruise and I loved the location. It was quiet, anyone walking by was going to their cabin, it was near the Pursar's Desk, Shore Excursion Desk and Atrium bar, and you had only a few cabins using the self-serve laundry. :) I didn't have any noise -- didn't hear a thing. chrysalis Posted October 25, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 25, 2006 We had an outside cabin on the Plaza Deck (Golden) and loved the location. Quiet, convenient....I think you have been given a great spot.
TNTLAMB Posted October 25, 2006 #6 Share Posted October 25, 2006 Don't know what ship you are on, but we frequently are on the Grand and prefer the Plaza Deck over all others. We try and get as close to the art gallery as possible. By far and away the most convienent for everything, noise has never been a problem. cmacf1 Posted October 25, 2006 Author #7 Share Posted October 25, 2006 I forgot to say we are on the Crown (12/23 sailing.) I'm greatly relieved that Plaza deck seems like a good place to be (except for maybe stabilizer noise.) We started out in K level inside cabins so this is a good step up. We'd go for a balcony cabin, but we have a very active climbing 2 year old who's afraid of nothing :o .
finsgirl Posted October 26, 2006 #8 Share Posted October 26, 2006 I will be in P211 in 11 days and will be more than happy to let you know how it was when I return!

We loved the location and plan on trying to stay there from now on....very close to things....especially the donuts and chocolate chip cookies! ha ha.....grab a few on your way back to the cabin for a midnight snack! You are right next to the art gallery so it was a quiet area for us. Hope you have a great trip.
RascalAnn Posted October 26, 2006 #10 Share Posted October 26, 2006 In addition to what I just wrote.....I think you might be on the other side of the art gallery than we were on but its still a great area in my opinion. Our hallway was right beside the International Cafe. Its a beautiful ship...I think you will enjoy it.
