mrsfuzzmo Posted October 29, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 29, 2006 I hear people saying they are going snorkeling in Labadee. Is it very good snorkeling? Is it worth us taking our snorkel gear with us onto Labadee? I can't find much information other than people either waverunner or relax there. I'm interested in the snorkeling and the clarity of the water. Any help?
GMoney Posted October 29, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 29, 2006 IME, the snorkelling at Labadee is marginal at best. There are much better stops for this. The water is very clear; there's just not a lot to see.
mrsfuzzmo Posted October 29, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted October 29, 2006 Thanks! That's what I figured! We will be doing a lot of snorkeling in Cayman and Cozumel, so I think we'll just lounge in Labadee.
GMoney Posted October 29, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 29, 2006 I think you will have much better snorkelling experiences in those 2 ports. One of my favorite snorkelling places is Coral Gardens in GC; consider that if you don't have firm plans yet.
mspink98 Posted October 29, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 29, 2006 Would there be any problem taking our own gear off the ship and trying it out anyway? I've rented gear and snorkeled there before, and it's not worth renting gear again, but would consider using my own (for free). My husband though there may be an issue with this because we wouldn't be using the cruise line's?
CLQ Posted October 29, 2006 #6 Share Posted October 29, 2006 I'm asking this on 2 threads hoping that someone can tell me where on Labadee you do go snorkeling? I'll go not expecting much, but would still love to try it.

I can't imagine a problem with bringing & using your own equipment, but you will have to rent and use their silly inflatable vest.
golfer1966 Posted October 29, 2006 #8 Share Posted October 29, 2006 The snorkeling is not that great on Labadee. Your better off going in Grand Cayman. Labadee is good for chillin and eating the ribs at the BBQ lunch....lol The waverunners are ok too.
Esarel Posted January 23, 2012 #9 Share Posted January 23, 2012 Someone mentioned snorkeling at "Adrenaline Beach" on "far right side" - but I don't see such a beach on RCCL's Labadee map. And the "far right side" is Haiti proper. Anyone know whether Adrenaline Beach exists, or whether there's decent snorkeling anywhere else at Labadee? (We have our own gear.) Thanks. Adrenaline Beach is the area under the zip lines in the cove closest to the Coast. Snorkeling there is not very good IMO. There was little to see and by early afternoon the water was pretty silted up.
cb at sea Posted January 25, 2012 #11 Share Posted January 25, 2012 How hard is it to bring your stuff? It's true...there's not much to see...and if there was, you could stand there and look...no need to put your face in the water at all! The water is mighty clear, so visibility is good. thegreens Posted February 2, 2012 #12 Share Posted February 2, 2012 Our experience was similar to what others are saying. Snorkeling wasn't great, but the water was clear. Labadee was the first stop on our RCL trip a couple of years ago, so we used it as a chance to check our snorkel gear to make sure it all worked properly. We didn't see anything in the water. No fish. No coral.
mcmarya Posted February 4, 2012 #13 Share Posted February 4, 2012 We tried in December, went first thing to the far end of adrenaline beach. There were a few fish, but you probably could not see anything once people started walking around stirring up the bottom. We used it as an opportunity to test our gear and camera since it was the first stop on our cruise. I took the attached pictures there.
mcmarya Posted February 4, 2012 #14 Share Posted February 4, 2012 Sorry, the other picture would not upload. As you can see, there is some coral and there are some fish. It's very shallow so the coral is in great danger.
