Rickster 1662 Posted November 9, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 9, 2006 Flying into San Juan to board the Crown this Saturday. Can someone please tell me if it is advisable to attach the Crown luggage tags only until after you disembark the airplane?? Thanks, Rick
Jayne315 Posted November 9, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 9, 2006 I fill out the tags at home and put into my passport holder. As soon as the luggage comes off the plane I slip them on and off to the ship I go! Much safer that way....
walsky Posted November 9, 2006 #3 Share Posted November 9, 2006 That's the way to do it. We also lock the suit cases before reaching the ship.
Cptnkirky Posted November 9, 2006 #4 Share Posted November 9, 2006 We attach ours before leaving home because...we lock our suitcases and if they get lost in transit, then at least the airline/port knows that piece of luggage belongs on a cruise ship and they can get it there, instead of them opening the luggage and looking for any documentation of a cruise or going the long route of getting in contact with you. The airports know and recognize cruise tags. I've never seen a reason not to put them on before hand :)
Pam in CA Posted November 9, 2006 #5 Share Posted November 9, 2006 I would recommend putting them on BEFORE you get on the flight but keep one or two in reserve. The reason being that should your luggage be lost or misdirected (always a possibility), the airline knows where it's going and it'll be easier for Princess to locate your luggage. Like the others, I have a TSA lock that I put on my suitcase.
jhannah Posted November 9, 2006 #6 Share Posted November 9, 2006 I'm with Amy and Pam. Put them on before you leave home. Just makes me feel better. Some say they get torn off. I've never had a luggage tag torn off. I've never had luggage delayed or misdirected either. But if that happens, handlers will know where to send the bag without having to do research. cherylandtk Posted November 9, 2006 #7 Share Posted November 9, 2006 Me four. Put them on before the airline, unless flying in well (several days)before the cruise. I take any extras with me in case anything gets pulled off in transit, but my bags and tags usually all make it.
