Any reason given for this ? i'm just back from the Jewel and Cpt + Chf Eng loved the Gas turbines

 

Will this cause issues for Stern cabins ie soot !!!

Jewel is having the Engines done Oct 2007 before they do a repo from Southampton to FLL. She won't be in Boston for 2007:(

So what exactly do they replace during the dry dock?

 

My Wife and I are on the Grandeur for the May 5th re-positioning cruise to Baltimore and I'm curious as to what they are planning to refurbish/replace/upgrade.

 

Also, do they normally finish these tasks on time?

I think the History channel or Discovery used to have a program on where they showed how the refurbish cruise ships. It was really interesting and I sure wish I could find it again. They showed how they simply change out an entire cabin at a time. Each cabin is kind of like one of those PODS storage sytems and just slipped into place. Carpeting was replaced. The biggest concern they have during a refurbishment is the fires that may be caused by the blow torches. If you ever hear them saying Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! look out. There's a fire on the ship. For anyone who's ever cruised or wants to cruise, it was quite interesting to watch. If anyone knows if this program is still on TV, please let me know.
