Yangtze cruise - what to wear

Yangtze river cruise in April - what to wear - on and off the boat? Skirts, dresses, pants, shorts? I don't want to offend by not being properly attired by Chinese standards.

I went on Viking last year, and dress ashore was very casual, shorts, jeans, whatever.

I recall looking towards the shore while on the Yantzee and watching some locals playing in the Yantzee totally nude. You are not going to offend anyone by dressing for the weather, which means shorts are fine. You can trust me that no matter what you wear you will appear to be a tourist to any of the Chinese (smile). You will have a great time and see many fascinating things on the river.
