Millenium Penthouse deck.

The first eight cabins on both port and starboard sides of the ship (6016 to 6035) have balconies roughly twice the depth of the regular cat 2Cs. The bottom balcony deck in this picture is Penthouse Deck 6, and you can clearly see how much larger the first eight balconies are:

We were in 6032 on Summit which is the first cabin with a regular-sized balcony. There was a fairly large balcony shield between our balcony and the next one forward. It was a comfortable cabin, but our view was somewhat obscured to the left.

We liked the location, forward of the elevators, dead end corridor. There was very little traffic outside the cabin. The one evening that teenagers were racing up and down the corridor, it was a surprise b/c it had been so quiet before. We noticed no noise from the theater at all. The longer walk to the DR didn't bother us. In fact, dh remarked it was a good thing b/c it was the most exercise he was getting on the cruise. <g> The Penthouse deck is sort of midway between decks. We rarely took the elevators b/c the stairs were faster.

If we ever sail on an M-class ship again, we intend to be right back on the same deck only at least one cabin farther forward.

I do think, however, that there must be a peephole in the cabin b/c whenever we stepped out for just a moment, the steward was in there like a flash, cleaning, straightening, bedmaking. <g> Coincidence? You decide.

Did you feel much more ships motion towards the front of the ship?

I didn't. We had very smooth seas, however, so I don't think motion was much of an issue anywhere on the ship on that cruise. Do remember that the Penthouse deck is lower than many other decks so that helps reduce with motion. Also, remember that the DR and theater are at the ends of the ship so unless you're going to spend all your time in the shops or casino, you'll be experiencing the "end zone" sometime.

All in all, we liked that deck and that location and would specifically request it again. I'd say go for it.

We book my Sister and Aunt into 6019 on a San Francisco Alaska Cruise. This is one cabin away from where you are asking about. We were staying in a CS mid-ship.

In moving back and forth between cabins we noticed that you get much more movement the further forward you went. We had a couple days of rough seas and you really felt it forward. It didn't bother eather of them.

The only consideration they mentioned was that on Tender Ports the anchors they drop are right under this area. The first moring they dropped anchor at 6AM they both ran for their life jackets thinking the ship was sinking. We later all laughed about it...but they said it was a real wake up call

They have a method of knowing when you leave your room, it takes the form of a very small piece of folded card. Look on the floor outside your room next time you go out.
