Dylansmommy Posted November 17, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 17, 2006 I read that one night is more formal than the other and i was wondering if that was true. i have one cocktail knee length dress that isnt as formal and a floor length formal dress. Does it matter which night i wear them on? I am going on the Carnival Glory and i was just wondering Thanks Heather
Eskwire Posted November 17, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 17, 2006 Some say the Second formal night (I think when they serve lobster...at least on Princess) is more formal but I never noticed an actual difference in the level of formality in the dresses. ladycaveat Posted November 18, 2006 #5 Share Posted November 18, 2006 I've always thought the first night . . . the Captain's Dinner . . . was the most formal of the two night.
shawilson Posted November 18, 2006 #6 Share Posted November 18, 2006 We were on the Carnival Pride in November 2005 (sniff, we loved it and are remembering every day, during scrapbooking). The first formal night was definetly the most formal, but this was the Mex Riv. I'd say, wear your "smallest" (i.e., most tight fitting) fancy dress first, because you just might gain a few fussy pounds. It seemed like most folks were "over it" , i.e. fancy, over dressing, by the second formal night. More cocktail type dresses, knee length, but still fancy (classic black, silk or beaded). That is just my thoughts. Don't worry about what you wear, just don't wear jeans or shorts and flip flops in the dining room. Carnival is actually more classy than the general populous perceive. I am keeping that as my secret, so don't tell a soul. It is the best value afloat, especially for families with kids. JMHO
Happy ks Posted November 18, 2006 #7 Share Posted November 18, 2006 I read that on occasion - that one night is more formal than the other. It seems to me it is a bit of a myth, perpetuated by cruise boards such as this. Although, I must admit that I take one long dress and one cocktail length dress, more for ease of packing than for any other reason.

caribbean dreams Posted November 21, 2006 #9 Share Posted November 21, 2006 I have noticed on Carnival that the first formal (Captains cocktail party) and Lobster night seems to be a bit more formal and more people attending than the second formal night.
