Star Princess - Lots of questions!

We're sailing on 12/16 for a Western Carribbean trip, 7 days. Having only cruised once before on a short, nothing special, we are very excited. We splurged on a balcony and everything!

So, some questions, mostly from my hubby who won't read the boards.

1) What kind of machines are in the casino? Do they have Keno machines and penny or nickle video machines (not poker, but the machines with bonus rounds)?

2) Does any food venue have crab legs?

3) Do they have free access to the showers in the spa?

4) What's the best pool for quiet, peaceful swim?

5) Are the pools and hot tubs really open 24/7?

6) Is there a drink of the day?

7) What kind of a hold does the cruiseline put on your credit card? And do they charge it periodically, like if you go over a certain amount, or charge it all on the last day?

8) Can I put some money on my account before the cruise online? Or do I have to call and put money on the account? Can I buy casino credit via the internet or do I have to call or mail in something?

9) How can I diffuse the sewage smell that is currently invading the Star. We spent bucks on a balcony room and plan to spend most of our cruise out there - if we could, we'd sleep out there!

I don't play machines, but I don't think there was keno. I'm pretty sure there were nickel & penny slots.

2) Does any food venue have crab legs?

I have heard that they sometimes have seafood buffet night at the Horizon Court buffet.

3) Do they have free access to the showers in the spa? yes

4) What's the best pool for quiet, peaceful swim? Lotus Spa

5) Are the pools and hot tubs really open 24/7?

yes...but some say they close at midnight now, so that may have changed.

6) Is there a drink of the day? OH YES!:p

7) What kind of a hold does the cruiseline put on your credit card? And do they charge it periodically, like if you go over a certain amount, or charge it all on the last day?

Supposedly just a $200 hold, but if (when!) you go over it they will put another $200 hold each time. We only had one total charge on our card from the trip.

8) Can I put some money on my account before the cruise online? Or do I have to call and put money on the account? Can I buy casino credit via the internet or do I have to call or mail in something?

You can purchase credit. Info comes after your final payment in paperwork (it was in the booklet where you can buy other gifts); I think we had to fax it then. Info should be in the book as to how. I think casino credit can just be put on your account.

9) How can I diffuse the sewage smell that is currently invading the Star. We spent bucks on a balcony room and plan to spend most of our cruise out there - if we could, we'd sleep out there! Don't expect this. We didn't notice it. If it IS an issue, see Guest Relations about moving cabins.
