bigmike8246 Posted November 25, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 25, 2006 Hey everyone. The Dream just docked around 4:00 AM this morning. I have 456 pics of the ship itself and a review will follow shortly after. Overall I was pleased with the ship. Yes, it was a bit small and if you are used to luxury, this ship isn't for you. It has a very relaxed feel however and the crew and the show were fantastic (Soozy can sing). Anyways, post if you have questions or want to see specific pictures. CanadianTwosome Posted November 25, 2006 #6 Share Posted November 25, 2006 Questions? Hell yeah I've got questions!!! ha ha ha We leave next Saturday!! Did you use the Kid's Crew or see any of the activities they offered? Do you have copies of the Dailies or Menus? What did you do in the ports? Did you by any chance take bottled water or soda on board with you or did you meet anyone who did? That's all I can think of for now... I'd love to see your pics, too!! Are you going to have them available online or do you need an email address to send them to? THANKS!!!!!!!
bigmike8246 Posted November 25, 2006 Author #7 Share Posted November 25, 2006 Almost finished uploading on picture trail. No I didn't use the Kids Crew. I usually enjoy meeting people in public rooms. They did seem to be having a pretty good time though. I have copies and pictures of the menu and Freestyle daily. I'll try to get those up within the next day or so. We enjoyed all of our tours. We did bus/city/shopping tours in Merida and Belize. In cozumel we just shopped. And yes, we brought a pack of coke cans and saved so much money. Bring a pack or two of drinks.

CanadianTwosome Posted November 25, 2006 #11 Share Posted November 25, 2006 Tired? Tired? What about us?!!? You MUST post all of your pics, your review, the Dailies, the Menus, and any other information WE request before you unpack, unwind, or sleep!!!! ha ha ha ha ha Seriously, though, when you are rested and settled in back home, we're all looking forward to your review. Thank you for taking the time out to do this first bit when you've just gotten home. We all appreciate it!! I'm very eager to see the Dailies and menus, which will answer a lot of questions, I'm sure. The only other thing I'd like to ask is again about the sodas. Did you pack them in your carry on or your checked luggage. I'd like things to go as smoothly as possible!! Thanks again, I'm looking forward to your next posts - whenever you're ready!!! bigmike8246 Posted November 25, 2006 Author #12 Share Posted November 25, 2006 Yep, pack your cokes in your luggage (even though we didnt). The crew knows how much coke cost and will probably let you bring them onboard.

Heckah Posted November 26, 2006 #16 Share Posted November 26, 2006 Thanks for the pics...I'll check them out in a minute. What's the "afterhours" situation like, and more importantly can you get decent food at 3am? Is there a restaurant open 24 hours?
bigmike8246 Posted November 26, 2006 Author #17 Share Posted November 26, 2006 Hmm. After hours were very low-key. Lots of lounges and casino action...usually a good movie on the tv. The sports bar is open until 5 A.M. They had hamburgers, hotdogs, and usually a different fried food selection each night to accompany. Yeah...its not healthy and i got a bad case of indigestion on moday or tuesday night.
pixie04 Posted November 26, 2006 #18 Share Posted November 26, 2006 Was getting off the ship smooth, if you pulled into port at 4am,was everyone off the ship by 8:00am. I'm on the Dream on 1/13/07 & will be traveling w/my parents and my sisters family. We have a flight a little after 1:00 pm .... Do you think there will be enough time ? I had trouble booking the transfers as they said flights have to be after 3pm then they came back after double checking & said we would be fine. By the end of the cruise I will have probably have had enough "quality" time with my family members & will need to be off ship and on an airplane as early as possible  . Please share the de-embarkation story. Do they allow you to keep your bags and walk off as I've read on other boards ?
Twice-a-year Posted November 26, 2006 #19 Share Posted November 26, 2006 Yes, as long as you are willingly to pull your belongings off the ship, you can get off about 8:45am with no problem. Brekfast is served at 6am. A taxi fare to the Houston airport is about $50. There are taxis waiting by the pier. :)
tawcat Posted November 26, 2006 #20 Share Posted November 26, 2006 the only real complaint were the main restaurants, our experience was terrible, so bad that we opted to do thanksgiving dinner at the sports bar buffet. express disembarkation was a bit unorganized, however, even with that we were off the ship and in our car and on our way home by 8:10a.m.

We are going on the dream and are trying to plan our evenings. Would love to know which night is the formal night. Would also love to look at those dallies if you have the time. Thanks for the info about sodas. We are going to bring some ourselves. Also how long did it take to disembark at the ports of call and custom/security check points? Thanks again for sharing information. Hope you and yours have a great Holiday Season.:) Just can't wait, William

Katmarha Posted November 27, 2006 #24 Share Posted November 27, 2006 Questions? Hell yeah I've got questions!!! ha ha ha We leave next Saturday!! Did you use the Kid's Crew or see any of the activities they offered? Do you have copies of the Dailies or Menus? What did you do in the ports? Did you by any chance take bottled water or soda on board with you or did you meet anyone who did? That's all I can think of for now... I'd love to see your pics, too!! Are you going to have them available online or do you need an email address to send them to? THANKS!!!!!!! My 5 year old liked the kids club, the 13 and 17 year old kids didn't like it and opted out. The menus were pretty good and the food was not bad. Although the waiters were always rushed and most of them seem so miserable. One of them told us he was stuck on board for another 8 months!!! And that was his own words!!!! There was one Jr. waiter we met he was the nicest one on the entire ship! Progresso was a good excursion - a bit delayed as it was the Mexican independence day and we were detoured out of town - so we got to see the "real' Progresso. Cozumel has developed a lot in the last 10 years since I was there last. But it still has a lot of shady areas. Belize - beware! A couple I met on the ship charged some purchases. Their 20 dollar purchase ended up as 2000 on their receipt. On our excursion, we were on a wild goose chase to find the group - so unorganized and then since we were running late our bus tour of the city got stuck in traffic and then was involved in a car accident. Then another delay as we had to pull over (which was a joke - as the streets were as small as alleys!) and they had to exchange info - then the police showed up, so more delays. Our ruins tour was cut short and we were subjected to the political opinions from the guide about our government and then at the end of the tour we were just dropped off and not escourted back to the depot - we were just warned to stay away from the "punks" and do any shopping in the mall area. It was Thanksgiving week - so there were a ton of kids on the ship. They just love to press the all the buttons on the elevator. The elevators were running local all the time. And the running in the hallways, they used the hallways as indoor track and then there were the parents who didn't know how to keep their children quiet during the shows. Thanksgiving dinner (another problem) - tried to make a reservation at Four Seasons (because they were taking reservations all week), couldn't do it, our 20 minute wait was more like a 1 hour and 1/2. Then we were rushed in and out. Very uncomfortable. We brought water and sodas with us and wasn't touched. Tip of the cruise. If you do the Sports bar for breakfast - use the Italian resturant on the 11th floor to eat. It is so much more peaceful than that madhouse that they call a buffet!!! CanadianTwosome Posted November 27, 2006 #25 Share Posted November 27, 2006 Thank you so much for the info. I'm sorry you had unruly kids (aka irresponsible parents) on your cruise. I hope we don't have to contend with that. My daughter is 8, and she's looking forward to the Kid's Crew for the most part, but who knows? Do the Dailies list the kid's planned activities, or do the Kid's Crew tell them when specific things (such as the pizza making or shirt painting) will be happening so that we can plan for them?
