Back from NCL Dream

I have to sat that leaving the ship was a bit of a mess. There were bags on the ground everywhere and porters were hard to come by. I was also shoved around by some of the crew that was involed in disembarkation.

The main restraunts did have some long waits. The 1st and 2nd night took us about 2 hours and eventually we told them about this problem. The restraunt manager talked with us and said e was sorry and offered us a free bottle of champagne.

If you are going on this cruise to relax, you will have a great time. I enjoyed the laid back, do-it-yourself atmosphere.

Hot tubs are open until 7 PM I believe but come as late as possible. Kids feel up the tubs throughout the day.

We had room 7246. It was an oceanview room. However, when you looked out the window, you see the deck and then water. It was a little small but comfortable and more than served its purpose.

We only felt the ships motion one night (monday or tuesday night). We were fore-warned and at night, it was very relaxing.

More questions?

Was getting off the ship smooth, if you pulled into port at 4am,was everyone off the ship by 8:00am. I'm on the Dream on 1/13/07 & will be traveling w/my parents and my sisters family. We have a flight a little after 1:00 pm .... Do you think there will be enough time ? I had trouble booking the transfers as they said flights have to be after 3pm then they came back after double checking & said we would be fine. By the end of the cruise I will have probably have had enough "quality" time with my family members & will need to be off ship and on an airplane as early as possible  . Please share the de-embarkation story. Do they allow you to keep your bags and walk off as I've read on other boards ?

Pixie, I didn't read the posts after this so someone probably already answered, but yes, you can take your own bags off the ship and you get to disembark first (you will receive a pink slip in your stateroom: "Express Disembarkation" on Thursday, you'll fill that out and return it to the Information Desk. You'll be disembarking on the 7th floor and you can start lining up before they call for the passengers). We were off the ship before 8am. Pack your bags the night before and be ready to disembark at about 7:30-8:00. We didn't think it was a mess or anything...worked out great for us.

here is the link to my pictures. i would like to elaborate just a tad about the restaurant experience. i think a lot of folks are misunderstanding the complaints of 2+ hours to dine. with traditional dining it ws easy to spend a couple of hours dining. the difference is that you were being tended to. different courses always coming and going and some personal "attention" given by your wait staff. however, here is where it all breaks down. i did address the specifics in my review which cna be read at http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberre...?EntryID=23157. the food was edible and well presented, i just think it ridiculous to be just sitting there waiting for 45 minutes+ just to have a water glass refilled!

Thanks for adding the further explanation. That did help put your original comments into perspective. :)

sometimes folks read into these things too much and don't take them for face value. looking at my signature it is evident i am not a newbie (well to those with 20+ cruises i am) cruiser. and i try very hard not to bash or demean. but this sailing was by far the worst when it came to dining, for us that is. there were 2,000+ folks aboard and i am sure many of them had a great experience. sometimes its just the luck of the roll.

i did fail to mention the great time i had in the casino. i am not a big gambler and never take more than i can comfortably leave there. first night dropped a dollar coin in a slot, hit it for $270. two nights later was on the Let It Ride table and hit a full house for $215. thursday night, two nights before we docked back in houston, dropped a dollar in a slot and hit it for $800. needless to say i forgot all about the dining rooms!!!!!!:D (over the next few cruises i am sure i'll give it all back; wait maybe i am just getting some back from previous cruises!)
