We are in Panama from 8:30 AM to 6PM. Am somewhat concerned about getting back to ship but would like to go on 7 hr tour with Mario to see canal and Indian Village. If we meet him at 9AM will this give us enough time to get back to the ship? Has anyone else taken this tour?

Thanks

We were in port from 7 AM to 4 PM last week and did that tour. We did made it back by 4:35, but to do so, we had only about 10 minutes at the locks. It was a good tour, but it is long. You probably should be okay since you are in port a little longer than we were.

On December 23, we did a private tour with Panama Pete's Adventures to Panama City, Old City, Colonial City, and the Miraflores Locks on the Pacific side, including lunch at Amador. The absolute highlight of our cruise. But, we did cut it a bit close on the return, because of the crazy congestion in Colon.

As for the canal and locks. This was my third trip to Panama; but my wife's first. The locks at Miraflores, on the Pacific side, are far more impressive than those at Gatun. Miraflores has a relatively new four story museum, which is great. The Panamanians consider Miraflores as their "showplace" of the canal.

I speak fluent Spanish but would NOT walk around Colon. Our guide agreed. It can be a very dangerous place.

Panama is a wonderful country, especially the western side. Have a great trip.

Does anyone know anything about the return trip to the ship,

which his site mentions is $15 additional per person, "flight" ??

just wondering about what type plane, where it lands and how

one gets from where it lands, back to the dock. His site says

flight returns back to dock at 3:20, minibus at 4:00, on his

partial Canal transit.

thanks for any info! trying to calm our nerves about the time

return situation and not getting left at the dock.
