Cheap cruise

Hi Slotaddict! We paid $1618 for 2, cat. 11, but got cat.10 because of Captain Club upgrade. I think the price is pretty low. Have you seen anything lower on any other line?

I have never done a TA, but I know that they usually have a low price, also. Most of our cruises have been very reasonable. The only expensive one we have ever taken was the British Isles/Scandinavia and we thought the food was better. Coincidence? We were wondering.

I can't believe how cheap our upcoming Jan. cruise has gotten. 10 night Mexican Riveria on Mercury for $559/each for cat 9. (Still inside) But wow! Hopefully none of the service/food will be different concidering the nicer price...

A lower price normally reflects

a) an older ship

b) higher cost of airfare, poor air connections

c) destinations that are less attractive.

I looked at Galaxy: the intinerary is wonderful but the ship is older, and the flights are a pain.

We are booked on Mercury for the fourth time this year (3 in February 06 and Panama next week.) The prices are the best available for a great product. I actually like the Mexican Riviera better because of more pleasant temperatures.

Transatlantics attract those who actually love being on a ship at sea and are practically paid for doing so.

Celebrity provides a great product with Xcellent service and good to great food. Some ships need a bit of TLC but grab the best deal you find; it's money "well-waisted". (a gymn is available if you want to get wasted instead... but that's another line)

I would spend the entire winter on either Galaxy or Mercury but my DW figures 6 weeks from January to March is enough. (IMHO it is never enough.)

I only wish I had the time off from work to go on the Mercury once again. I have sailed on her twice and one price was even more incredible than the one you quote, although it was a couple of years ago. We originally booked a 7 night cruise out of San Francisco - RT - was called as the cruise was extended to 11 nights and if we chose to keep our booking, which was already less than $100 a night for the family sized OV room, we were also provided with $100 pp room credit with the same room guarantee. Well, no brainer!! Best cruise I have ever taken .... plus the casino was quite generous, so won back the cruise fare. To top it off, we were treated like king and queen throughout the cruise..and food was great as well. They just don't get a lot better than the Mercury, service and food.....and overall experience. We were very impressed the little extras that were offered throughout the cruise....and everyone we spoke to that booked the cruise early as we did, ended up with exactly the same deal. No reduction in service or food, etc. due to the cheap prices. I am pretty jealous...have to wait until May to go again!! :D

Our Feb cruise on the Galaxy is sooo cheap, it is practically a give-away.

Do you think Celebrity will skimp on food, etc?

I knew you couldn't hold out! Same thing applies to the Princess ships sailing out of San Juan. Air costs for most are much higher so cruise price much lower. We love sailing out of San Juan and just wish I had enough vacation left to sneak on with you! Food and service should be what you have had on the rest of your X cruises. Which are you taking the 10 or 11. Both have some fantastic ports and wouldn't mind doing any of them again!

How in the world did it miss you? Baby is in Montreal so it must have gone right over you! Someone just told me 4 days and a wake up so definitely cabin fever with a way out in view!

Baby, If there was a way, you would definitely see us on that aft deck! Only two problems - 1) after Mercury, I would probably not having anything that fit and 2) the Boss would kill me! Dang, it is even over V Day! Better get back to work or he'll kill me anyway!

Sounds like a pretty good deal, I have gotten some really good bargains and have never thought the food or service was any different.

thats a good deal, sometimes they throw the deals out there if the ship is not selling out, they sell some cabins at a lower rate and then raise the price again.

We just got home. We went to see "Babel"...a very very stressful movie. It exhausted me!

Donna...are you working today? Do you always work on Sunday? That's right, V day. It will be the first time on a ship on V day. Wonder what they'll do? It's also our anniversary the week before, while we are in San Juan. We'll have to do something special there!

DMK...the amount I posted is in US dollars...still reasonable, don't you think? Yes, the snow is very pretty. It is so clean when it is new! But the ice on Friday was horrid. My car could have been a Celebrity Ice Sculpture! Our very first cruise was on the Century...during THE ICE STORM, remember? I remember that the dining room was very elegant. You will have a wonderful time. I bet it will feel so good when the first batch of passengers disembark...and you stay on!!

Is C to C in Ottawa? Usually they get more snow than we do.

We have a super-cheap one as well - Galaxy at the end of March. We booked it ages ago and the price keeps dropping. I'm hoping it doesn't mean that the food/service etc will be of lesser quality but for what we're paying, I won't complain!!

We were also lucky with a cheap cruise. We booked a B2B Century cruise. The price for one of the new Sunset Veranda cabins was $1458 for a total of 10 days. Of course, we booked it as soon as the prices were listed.;)

:D Now you are a man after my own heart! :) If my DH could live without me for a "few" months, I would sail right along with you, heck I would "settle" for December to April and would volunteer to sleep in the upper bunk. ;) It is a little chilly in Georgia these days....:(
