AndyPanda Posted December 7, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 7, 2006 was just advised to try "Fun 21" at the casino. I am a serious blackjack player, so I have doubts about this game. Normally these new games give less odds of winning. Can anyone explain this game? Thanks, Andy
Perki Posted December 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 7, 2006 was just advised to try "Fun 21" at the casino.I am a serious blackjack player, so I have doubts about this game. Normally these new games give less odds of winning. Can anyone explain this game? Thanks, Andy I watched some friends here in Vegas play on Thanksgiving and this is what I got out of it (not being a gambler myself): it was single deck and allowed you to further bet after you took a "hit" or if you split cards you didn't have to take just one card you could "hit" again, etc. It was wild oh and also say you felt like you had such a bad hand there was no way you were going to beat the dealer's you could 'fold' and got to keep half your bet so half is better than none I guess, but then again one never really knows what the dealer has so again even that is a gamble right? Hope that helps a little.
cruzlvrs Posted December 7, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 7, 2006 One of the most important things about this game is that there are no 10's in the deck. Some places do it with no Kings or Queens. So it is one of the above.....depending where you are playing.

TexasMom2 Posted December 7, 2006 #5 Share Posted December 7, 2006 The worst rule in Fun 21 (for the player) is that the dealer hits soft 17. You would be surprised how much this rule hurts your odds, especially if you are standing on 17-19. I avoid these games, but the "spin" bonus games are fun. Even though I don't bet the spin, it's fun to watch other people do it, even if it slows the game down.
Rare MrSchwump Posted December 8, 2006 #6 Share Posted December 8, 2006 Here's the deal on Fun 21 as I saw it on the Crown. I lost a net of about $40, but had a lot of fun playing it. It's an 8 deck shoe with no Queens. The dealer has to hit on a soft 17 and you can double down on any number of cards but at least on 3. With 8 less "10" cards in the shoe (the missing Queens) your odds of making a good draw are diminished. There's also some quirk about how much a "blackjack" pays off too, but I don't remember. It seems like it's easier to win, but I'm guessing if you did the math, it probably favors the house more that regular blackjack. There are a couple of the dealers on the Crown who are in dire need of a personality transplant. One female dealer dealt me about 3 or 4 twelves in a row and I said, "you're killing me here!", in a joking manner. She got defensive and said "it's not my fault, it's just how the cards come up". Yeah, as if I didn't know that already! Most of the dealers were fine but these 2 had zero gaming small talk skills. Your old pal, Joe

happy cruzer Posted December 8, 2006 #8 Share Posted December 8, 2006 Hi, Thanks for the details on Fun 21. I was starting to think it might be Super Fun 21 (but if it has any cards missing from the deck it is a different game from Super Fun 21). Also there is a game called Spanish 21 which may be like Fun 21 but I don't know the details or odds. Sounds like sticking to traditional BJ is the best. cheers! BigDoug Posted December 8, 2006 #9 Share Posted December 8, 2006 The Fun 21 game played on Carnival and Princess ships is really Spanish 21. It is actually a very good bet. Here's a link http://wizardofodds.com/spanish21 I've done very well at this game. You just have to adjust your game slightly and you can do well. :D
