jbkk Posted December 26, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 26, 2006 We are sailing out on the 1st and driving down on the 31st. Any suggestions of where to eat dinner that night? Not too expensive, but decent. Will we need reservations? We have 2 kids with us, 6 and 11. We are staying at the Best Western near the terminal. We'll probably play games till midnight and celebrate the new year in our room with the kids.
KreinKrunker Posted December 26, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 26, 2006 If you like Mexican food, try Acapulco. It's within walking distance of your hotel. Don't know about reservations, just call when you get there.
Splinter Posted December 26, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 26, 2006 If you are eating early (before 7PM) you are probably OK without reservations, but you should call NOW to find out. Another couple of options are these (from article in Sunset magazine about San Pedro from last summer): Papadakis Taverna. An upscale but truly authentic Greek taverna, right down to the folk dancing, plate-smashing, and shouts of "Opa!" Dinner daily. $$$. 301 W. Sixth St.; http://www.papadakistaverna.com or 310/548-1186. San Pedro Brewing Company. Try the aptly named Harbor Hefeweisen and smoky pulled-pork BBQ sandwich. Lunch and dinner daily. $$. 331 W. Sixth St.; http://www.sanpedrobrewing.com or 310/831-5663.
dbakz98 Posted December 27, 2006 #4 Share Posted December 27, 2006 If your looking for something not too expensive but decent, I've got to recommend Grinders. Especially with kids in tow. Its right next to your hotel. Its similar to a CoCo's or Baker's Square. http://www.grinderrestaurants.com
Cruisin' Chick Posted December 27, 2006 #5 Share Posted December 27, 2006 I would definitely check to see if you need reservations, unless it's a family restaurant. One thing to be aware of is that some places that aren't having special celebrations may close early to let their employees be with their families.
