promedade stateroom

Recommended Posts

Had one on the Mariner...and it was really neat to watch the parade and all...then to people watch...but was surprised how many people don't even look out there window...

Just make sure curtain is closed when you don't want someone to see in...because from down below can see in very easy....we also put a sign on our window and we could tell our room...

Has anyone ever cruised in a promedade stateroom? What did you think about them?

It was fun to be able to watch the parades and people in the promenade. There are a few things to consider:

People say it's not noisy. It can be. It is loud when there are scheduled activities there. We were near someplace that must have had live music several nights. If you're not a late night person or if you have kids, it may bother you. Personally, I sleep through anything on a ship.

As per the previous post, people can see in easily. If I did it again, I'd book two decks above the promenade level, not one.

The arrangement of the furniture in ours made it more cramped than an interior because the bed was in the middle and there were 2 small sofas at the window end.

It was small, but we survived. Not many drawers but plenty of room in the closet, including shelves. We didn't want to spend the extra $ on a balcony but didn't want an inside so we decided to try a promenade. I do prefer to be able to see outside but that's my personal opinion. Would I stay in one again? Sure I would. We were on deck 8 right above the stairs down to the casino which is about the middle of the promenade. The new bedding was the best!!

We booked two promenade rooms two years in a row on the Navigator. Next to having a balcony (we had an inside on the majesty) it was the best. We had plenty of room for the four of us (two adjoining rooms). We loved looking out on the promenade especially in the morning and late at night and on formal night while we were getting ready and saw everyone in their finery!

We had a promenade room for our 2 children on the mariner, deck 6,right near ben and jerrys. Was great to watch the parades and people.Noise was never a prob, even during the parades-so muffled you could have slept thru them.Loved the location, just right down one set of stairs to the promenade, stores, food, etc. My child liked it so much he is upset that on our next cruise he will not be in a promenade room,we have one less child going this time so this child will just share a balcony room with us.

I just stayed in one this past December. I was travelling solo, and thought it would be a good way to save some $$. The cabin was nice, but didn't have a lot of storage. I only had one suitcase, but used up most of the drawers, filled the closet, etc....

Some people LOVE the promenade on the big ships. I spend maybe one hour total in the promenade over the course of an entire week (and that's a generous estimate). I think that's why I wasn't crazy about the PR cabin....just didn't feel connected to the sea in there. I guess I am simply the type that needs at least an oceanview.

If you love the promenade and spend lots of time there, there is no reason you wouldn't love this category of cabin. If you think about it, and realize that you don't spend much time in the promenade, there is probably a reason for it (ie: wanting to be places where you can see outside), and it would be worth spending a little extra for at least an oceanview.

Thanks for the input. I am glad to hear the other side. This is one of the things I love about this site.

We had a promenade on our Explorer cruise last October and loved it. We were on deck 6 and there was some noise but as someone else said, it's pretty muffled that it wouldn't have kept me awake.

We booked another promenade room for Liberty in September - we're really looking forward to cruising again!

We stayed in promenade rooms on both the Explorer and Navigator (Deck 8). I never heard any noise from the promenade.

We have booked a deck 8 PR room on our upcoming AOS sailing. It is no where near as nice as a balcony (which we experienced on our 5/05 AOS sailing)....but the price is usually nice.

We stayed in a promenade Deck 7 on the Navigator and loved it! Deck 7 seemed to be central and if you get mid ship with no obstructions it's great for people watching and just knowing what's going on down below you. With me it depends on my budget; I have also stayed in an inside and would take a promenade over that in a second. And noise was never a concern. Now saying that, we are booked in our first aft cabin on the Freedom in May, so I may have a total different opinion on PR cabins after experiencing our first balcony.
