kitty9 Posted January 7, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 7, 2007 I've been keeping an eye on the bridge cam from KroozCams and saw that Millennium left the dock later than the 4:30 departure time, cruised for a very short time, and is now back in port in FLL. Anyone know what's happening?
Babs1121 Posted January 7, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 7, 2007 I talked to friends of ours that are on the Millinnium and they said that they wouldn't be leaving until around midnight or 3 am if that..If they leave they were already were told they wouldn't be stopping in Dominica but if they make up time they might be able to stop in Nassau on the way back..They were able to board the ship and go to their cabin..Also can enjoy everything on the ship until they decide what is happening and if they can get the ship repaired..I sure hope they get everything fixed because this is our friends first cruise and they sure will be disappointed.. We have been watching also and she appears to have pulled away from the dock at 5:15 and was back in a different position at 5:30  very strange:eek:

Host Joe Posted January 7, 2007 #7 Share Posted January 7, 2007 I am in FLL right now, and have been sitting on the rocks near the pier at the end of the beach, and we watched as Millie pulled away from the pier, and then relocated nearby... this was around 5 ish... bububr Posted January 7, 2007 #8 Share Posted January 7, 2007 My crazy mother in law is on the ship. They are booked in Concierge class. They were told upon boarding that they would not be leaving until midnight or later because of an engine problem. They were given a $300.00 cabin credit. Her biggest complaint....they had a broken lampshade in thier cabin. So she went to the spa. I feel bad for the other passengers. First their trip is delayed, then they find out they are trapped with TiTi my mother in law. :D Dave:eek:

If Celebrity has told your friends that they are going to skip the D.R. and may be able to stop, if they make up time, at the scheduled port of Nassau, then I guess I don't understand how it could possibly be necessary to skip Nassau to make up for a late departure. I would hope that Celebrity would not just continue to sail the Millie until the pod problem is repaired. Although I can understand why Celebrity would not like to give out all of the bad news at one time as new passengers first board. Good luck to your friends on their first cruise. What a way to start your first cruise. Thanks everyone for the web cam websites addresses.
2ladies Posted January 8, 2007 #10 Share Posted January 8, 2007 Bububr - I can't believe you wrote that - are you divorced? If not, you soon will be!!:D Bear in mind, that lampshades are an extremely important part of cruising and deserving of a $500 refund!!! She must demand an extra $200!!! smdubowsky Posted January 8, 2007 #11 Share Posted January 8, 2007 I've actually stayed up to watch when the Millenium would leave. It's now 12:45 AM and she's still in FLL! I am going to bed. My guess for the change in slips was that the Constellation needs that slip for disembarkation this AM on its return. Hope things clear up for our cruise on the 28th. Good luck to the cruisers before us!

The reason we made it to Nassau 3 hours early was due to a medical emergency....the Captain was definitely booking it! And my disembarkation was smooth as silk....no fiasco here. I was in the very last group of people off.....it was about 10:00--10:15. I wish I could have stayed on the ship!

Blanco-Grande Posted January 8, 2007 #17 Share Posted January 8, 2007 Well as far as exiting on Xmas EVE, i SAW NO one having a "smooth as silk." if this was the norm, may I never cruise again I think the customs agents were having a Krispy Kreme break I see she finally made it out to sea around 3:05 am any bets on when it breaks down again??
GALAMB Posted January 8, 2007 #18 Share Posted January 8, 2007 I see she finally made it out to sea around 3:05 am any bets on when it breaks down again?? 'bite your tongue' i am going on her next week, and the thought of being tied in port, or worse, cancelled, is not something i want to even think about. DedeM Posted January 8, 2007 #19 Share Posted January 8, 2007 I'm going with my mom on the 21st. She will be so bummed if it's cancelled or we're stuck at a port. If it's just skipping a port or two, both of us prefer at sea days anyway, but I know it's a bummer for people who love to tour. I don't know how to tell my mom about these issues. I'm thinking at 81 years of age, it might be better to not say anything until the last minute. Otherwise she will do nothing but worry about it for the next 2 weeks. cruisin'cats Posted January 8, 2007 #20 Share Posted January 8, 2007 Hi, you guys obviously didn't follow my reports from aboard the Millie last week...I informed everyone that the ship wouldn't even be leaving port before midnight because of the same problems. We missed DR and Nassau and were given compensation for both ports ($350 each plus a 25% discount off next cruise booked within the year). There was a near riot on our ship! The reason we had to skip nassau (and why this sailing might end up doing the same) is because they can't make it back from St. T. in time for flights if they're limping along at 17 kph. so they skip Nassau to gain that time and cut short the trip. Millie needs help!
ParrotHead4Life Posted January 8, 2007 #21 Share Posted January 8, 2007 I'm anxious to hear from someone onboard currently, to see what the latest news is. fingers crossed that whatever repairs were made in FLL are good ones, and that they hold out through the end of next week - we sail on the 14th! As I said, I was one of the very last people off the ship. 99% of the luggage had already been picked up. I even chatted with friends before I left. Got my luggage, went through customs and went outside and caught a cab to the airport. Sorry you had such a bad time:(

Jimbo and Katy Posted January 8, 2007 #24 Share Posted January 8, 2007 bububr, Perhaps your mother-in-law is in the same cabin we had on the Dec. 17th cruise. We too had a broken lampshade or should I say missing lampshade. It didn't bother us at all, just found it interesting since Millie had been in dry dock the week before. You think something like that would have been taken care of. We mentioned it to to our room steward right away. Not to be fixed, we really didn't care, but we didn't want to be charged for it after we left. Blanco-Grande, Have to agree with you about the disembarkation. It was absolutely terrible. We had a wonderful cruise and have nothing negative to say about the cruise other than that. We had the first time slot after the express people. Well, after going to the Rendevous Lounge where we were assigned, there was no help. There were two young men on the stage with a microphone, but they would never tell us anything and they got very mad if people asked them anything. If you aren't going to make announcements, then you need to expect questions. We had the 8:30 color and by 9:15 they still weren't telling us to get in line. We went to check out the line and it already went through the casino. How could there be a line if no one was released yet? We asked a few people at the end of the line. They thought they were in a line to get into the Theater. Others thought they were in line to get off the ship. We went to the front of the line where one person was working to see which line it was. She told us it was to disembark. When we brought it to their attention that there were a lot of people in line to get to the theater, she could have cared less. They really need to work on the organization of this. It didn't ruin the cruise for us or anything, but it was one thing we felt Celebrity needs to work on. Obviously it was different for those leaving the ship last. I think everyone disreguarded their colors and just got in line at the beginning or something. You never had to prove what color you had or anything. Sorry for being long-winded about this, but just thought I would let you know that you weren't the only one that felt like this about the disembarkation. Have a great day, Katy
