jkgourmet Posted January 10, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 10, 2007 1st timer on NCL, departing on the Dream for a quick (and cheap!!!) one week cruise out of Houston. We are flying in the night before to Hobby Airport, arriving at about 10pm, so dinner is a nonissue. 1. Where should we stay for the night? 2. What is generally the cheapest way to get to the hotel? 3. How shall we get to the port in the morning? 4. Suggestion as to what time to turn up at the port for a 4PM departure. Thanks much. We've done HAL, RCCL, Princess and Carnival and are curious to see how NCL fares in comparison - but considering the cost, we're already happy! PrairieGirl Posted January 10, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 10, 2007 In case you haven't already checked, there is excellent information and reviews on http://www.tripadvisor.com Just search for hotels at La Porte or Hobby! Good luck!:)
clearlakecruisers Posted January 10, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 10, 2007 I'd suggest taking a taxi from Hobby to a motel in LaPorte, Texas. There are several chain motels in that small town and, I understand, most offer shuttle service to the cruise terminal at the Port of Houston (+/-15minute trip). SmileyFaceM Posted January 17, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 17, 2007 If you want to stay by airport, I just got a good deal on Priceline. I bid on a 3 star near Houston Hobby for $55 a night and got it. I'm staying for 2 nights so my total was 136.98 (yours would 68.49 for 1 night). I got the Holiday Inn at Houston Hobby. Since we're staying for a few days, I wanted to stay in something a little nicer (but of course not pay more :D ) Michelle
